Posted July 16, 200619 yr I checked her box yesterday morning as I heard the telltale cheeping of chicks & found 2 babies! *sobs* I couldn't be more proud of my little girl! I have never been so happy or emotional for the hatching of a bird before! *sobs again* I love my baby girl sooo much! She is such a wonderful mother, the babies were nice & warm and their crops were full! Get ready for a photo fest! The 2 little babies: Mumma loves her babies: Yes darling, I am proud of you! Wait! You can't go yet mum! You haven't given me a scratch yet! ooohhhh!!! Some more please!!! Thank you mum. The loving couple: Big Gray & Boris Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!! I checked her box this afternoon & baby 3 has arrived!! I didn't take pictures as I didn't want to disturb her too much - and she growled at me!! Edited August 13, 200619 yr by karen
July 16, 200619 yr oh and she still loves you Karen that is great I can't wait to see the babies for sure
July 16, 200619 yr Aaaawwww...how sweet! What a fantastic mum she is! Great pics.... Congratulations to you (Grandma!! ) Cheers, Tracey
July 16, 200619 yr Awwww, what a good mommy Boris is!!! soooo cute!! I'm surprise to see that she's still so friendly with you even with babies..I jsut thought that all mommy turn evil when they have babies!! (Laughing out loud).. guess I was wrong!! or you have the exception!!
July 16, 200619 yr She's a fantastic Mummie budgie........... only about 2% of my mummie budgies turn evil Cheeta  the rest are :angel1: 's
July 16, 200619 yr :ausb: Boris looks so sweet and content, does she get to be a "house" budgie again when the babies are all raised. Didn't know you were going to breed her,I remember a post you did a couple of months ago where she laid a bloodied egg in your hand and you were really surprised. Good work Boris!
July 16, 200619 yr Did the pair have tourble mating do you think? I replied on other forum about the babies, congrats! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! :ausb: They are too cute! Im just wondering, becvuase im getting english budgie, and mating him to American female, so its like your pairng, (Laughing out loud). I guess yours was successful! Anyways, congrats, and i hope all 3 babies are doing great! Just goes to show how good of an owner you are, letting your freindly house pet, become a wonderful mum to adorable babies, and wife to a stunning cock bird Kirby
July 16, 200619 yr Very nice pictures :ausb: . I can't wait to see the babies growing. Congratulations
July 16, 200619 yr Author Thanks guys! :ausb: I am hoping to bring Boris back inside as she is my special baby. I have a bit of opposition though - mum is keen to bring in her first hatched inside to keep the self taming line. My dad is keen to keep Roger inside as he is finally taming up & my dad thinks he is the prettiest bird we've ever had inside. I hadn't originally planned to breed Boris, but she was practically tearing through the walls trying to get to the boys. I can't deny Boris anything. Kirby - Boris is not a small bird (she is one of my smallest though), the last time I weighed her she was 46 grams. I haven't weighed Big Gray so don't know his weight, I didn't want to lose his trust as he is partly tame (his doing). I did notice that he fell off the first couple times they tried to mate but practice makes perfect I guess!
July 17, 200619 yr (Laughing out loud) thanks Karen.... Yes, i guess ill wait and see the 'skill's my new guy will have :ausb: hahaha... Anyways, hmmm, can you keep 2 inside? I LOVE Roger, hes such a darling! What if you keep him, AND a female hen from this clutch inside (Laughing out loud)... That is if you want another case of Boris that is (Tame birds becoming parents, (Laughing out loud))... Either way, im sure whomever you choose, he/she will bond at some point :fear Kirby
July 17, 200619 yr AAAWWWWWWW....... :fear Congrats to Boris and to you too! I'm glad she is still tame for you. Skittles became remarkably more trusting once she was hatching babies too. It is SUCH a warm fuzzy when they let you feed and scritch them and don't mind you being there with their babies. If you think about it, that is a tremendous amount of trust that little bird has placed in you. More pictures please.
July 18, 200619 yr Author Kirby I wish I could have more than 1 bird inside. I'm afraid though that I am only allowed 1 More photo's at the weekend.
July 18, 200619 yr More photo's at the weekend. :ausb: ...I am looking forward to them... Congratulations Karen.
July 22, 200619 yr Author First up a quick video of the babies! http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b234/kar...orissBabies.flv Big Gray - I couldn't get past without taking a picture of him! Can you guess what he'd just been eating? Boris, even though she looks tired, she still looks so proud! More of the babies.
July 22, 200619 yr awe what a protective sweet mummy you must be beaming with pride Carrots..(Laughing out loud) Big Gray he looks too dignified to get his face all messy
July 22, 200619 yr Nice photos. I love the video, they look so so cute . My budgies love carrot, so they look like Big Gray all the time
July 22, 200619 yr Poor Boris is sooo tired, her wings are drooping :hap: As one Mummy to another, Boris I know that feeling only toooo well! :hap: :hap: She really loves her babies, doesn't she? What a perfect Mummy
July 22, 200619 yr Awwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Out of every bird mum, Boris always looks the cutest when with her babies! Her poses she does, the glares she gives the camera! Its soo cute! I love the babies, and the video was Great! Big Grey is stunning like usual, i love him carrot head, literally (Laughing out loud) Kirby :hap:
July 23, 200619 yr Author Great pictures! So will all the babies be green like mama? I don't think they will all be the same colour, the biggest baby has different skin to the others (don't know if that really means anything (Laughing out loud)!). We will know more in a week or two I guess - unless one of the genetics knowledgable people can tell from the pictures?
July 23, 200619 yr Awww, what cute pics!!! I do have to agree with Kirby. Boris has the coolest expression on for the camera!!
July 23, 200619 yr Unless Boris is split for blue ( sorry Karen but I can't recall her parents) the bubs will be greygreen. Which the first might be. If she is then you can get greys. They are so cute Lucky you, I cuaght Marine and Tootie at it again today But I'm holding off until it warms up some more. Edited July 23, 200619 yr by Nerwen
July 25, 200619 yr Author Thanks for that Jen! Boris' line is: father, grandfather & great grandfather yellow/green recessive pied. mother, grandmother, great grandmother lutino. Big Gray is a bought bird so the only thing I know is what he's bred before - to a lutino hen (history unknown): yellow faced greys & normal greens.
