October 30, 200618 yr My daughter was just looking at all the photos with me and after the 20 questions on whos birds they were she said... "Why does Karen have all the cute birdies?" I cant help but think she is right :ausb: That photo with the little tongue sticking out was too sweet

November 1, 200618 yr Author Just wondering what possibilities there would be in babies from these two ? Dad and Mum (cinnamon) as I have just checked and there are two newborns
November 1, 200618 yr blue normals unless dad has the cinnamon gene or mum has the clearwing (dilute) gene
November 1, 200618 yr Author How is my little Pina and her babies coming along?? Is she a good mummy?? Pina ( who you named ) is a brilliant mother....very dilligent and she bites me everytime I try and look at the babies. She will let me look and reach partway into the box...she sits on the perch with her head in the box reaching out to bite me.....and often succeeds. Photos over the weekend when more colour is showing on the babies.
November 3, 200618 yr Author Babies in the breeder boxes....... Two new babies in Luigi and Honeys box plus eggs Two new babies in Stud and Cindy's box plus eggs Four babies in Pina and Tiki's box ( one died ...was found with a dislocated/broken kneejoint and unfed ) Eggs in other nests. I have only 12 or so pairs breeding right now...all others in the largest aviary are "on holidays" Edited November 9, 200618 yr by Bubbles
November 5, 200618 yr Author Babies of these two Dad and Mum (cinnamon) 2 Babies ************************************************************************** Luigi and Honey's 3 Babies Luigi and Honey Honey ************************************************************************* Here is a disabled budgie I call Trooper (Kirby named him) . Trooper had a rough start to life as a new fledgling. He flew under my foot as I stepped into the main aviary and I crushed the poor little mite. I was devastated !! The only saving grace for Trooper was that I was barefoot and the ground underneath my foot was soft sand. The vet adopted a wait and see as Trooper looked like he may not make it and there was little that could be done at the time. However Trooper has lived up to his name and is still with us. He is healthy and happy but has issues. He's not all that good at flying but can acchieve "bunny hops" of small flights. He has a foot that is broken and set in a sideways position, so he isnt all that good at perching, but he can perch. He can climb the walls of the aviary too. He is very good at climbing ladders and Cheeta and her husband Daniel have made him a special ladder which arrives soon. He has progressed from the baby cage to the fledgling aviary just this week and is doing fine. Trooper has a friend in Dancer the grey opaline who also has a funny foot. Dancer is Trooper friend and protector. Dancer keeps Trooper company and defends him as well from any inquisitive fledglings who get too close. Troopers feed and water trays have to be at ground level for him. Here is a temporary ladder we made for him but he does prefer the rung type that Daniel has made (we haven't got it yet, but its coming)... Here is Dancer Dancer has a deformed foot also and has learnt to overcome the disability as shown in the previous photo....Dancer can perch !! ******************************************************** Pina and Tiki's nestlings This one keeps jumping out of the nest
November 5, 200618 yr Gorgeous babies! You must have been devastated when Trooper did that! :dbb1:: Glad he has pulled through. I've got one that is starting to jump out of the nest. They usually bite when you put them back! What cheek!! :(Laughing out loud):
November 5, 200618 yr WOW and to think you were going to find Dancer a special home when she already has one she is gorgeous Karen. Alot of updates that babies look great and I am glad Trooper is okay.
November 5, 200618 yr Author It's the worst feeling in the world stepping on a baby budgie....I haven't really ever forgiven myself. It taught me a lesson. But Trooper lives up ro his name and keeps going. He is healthy and reasonably happy so thats the main thing. WOW and to think you were going to find Dancer a special home when she already has one she is gorgeous Karen. Alot of updates that babies look great and I am glad Trooper is okay. Dancer is a gorgeous budgie. It's funny though the way she has become Trooper's protector and friend. She didn't like other baby budgies she was with but her and Trooper just seemed liked they were joined at the hip....mates for life. Gorgeous babies! You must have been devastated when Trooper did that! :fear: Glad he has pulled through. I've got one that is starting to jump out of the nest. They usually bite when you put them back! What cheek!! My heart sank when I stepped on poor Trooper. And for days I expected to see him die in front of my eyes, but he just keeps going. Says a lot for his brave heart.
November 5, 200618 yr Hooray for Trooper and his pal Dancer! My first year at the Wildlife Shelter I stepped on a baby robin out in the aviary and it died and I nearly died too until I was convinced accidents happen. As usual, the new bubs are gorgeous!

November 6, 200618 yr Pair A - yep you are right and all greens unless male split for blue Pair B - dominant pied double factor spangles is what you would get and they would be blues Pair C - clearbody is sex linked from what I am reading this is a shot in the dark and dominant and since your hen is carrying it any of the off spring that is clearbody would be male and split to normal. Of course you would get Spangles too and I am not sure how that works works with the clear body gene. All blues I can't wait to see all the babies, those are my educated answers:P
