July 17, 200618 yr Author :ausb: She sure is one smart budgie to have figured out her own little "special" place. There are a few special places in the aviary that they choose to use, and some birds have started trying to have babies in very weird places. I have had to move some of them as the places they chose would have been dangerous or the resulting babies would have drowned when it rained etc. I can't get to Amara, so we will have to wait and see. I will get a torch and try for photos of her hidey spot later....but for now she can stay and raise whatever eggs or babies she has.
July 17, 200618 yr Author Todays news....Swift and Rocket have two new babies with four eggs. Bonnie was husband hunting again so she has been jailed (she is meant to be retired from breeding). Buddha is flying everwhere like a pro. Bao still scuttles about but needs new flight feathers to help her fly. Cameo is the only baby now that steps onto my finger in the aviary...she's such a sweetie :ausb: two weeks out of the nest in an aviary and she still wants to be friends. Just two weeks to go ( Kens holidays ) and we start changing the aviaries around. I can then divide up the birds better so retirement birds, non breeders and youngsters can all be where they are meant to be.
July 17, 200618 yr Author busy busy busy...Amara is gorgeousHow is the treatment going for Ken's birds? We haven't lost any more birds since the treatment began. One whitefronted blue scarlet girl, although looking unwell has hung in there when we expected her to have died weeks ago. The birds are on the doxycycline for 6 weeks. We have to move them into another smaller area so the chances of them drinking moisture from plants, rain or elsewhere is lessened. That way the medicine works better. We have bought a smaller metal aviary for his birds quarantine whilst on medicine....measures about 6 foot wide by same height by 4 foot wide. Once we move his birds we can set about scouring his aviary for the renovations for the future enclosures in there for the budgies. :ausb:

July 17, 200618 yr Author *blows kisses* Is it just me, or does little Bao become more adorable every day???? There's just "something" about her You should see her Lin....puts herself to bed same time every night now.....toddles down the the perch end of the aviary....toddles like a clockwork toy....then she climbs up the mesh, then up the thatch and onto the perch in her usual spot ready for bedtime. :angel1:
July 17, 200618 yr She's just such a gorgeous little baby! What a good girl! Wish my darn birds would put themselves to bed, instead of making me bleed because I say it's bedtime :
July 17, 200618 yr From a few posts back - what is Misty's mutation. She is really pretty. And how are the bubs coming along?
July 17, 200618 yr Author From a few posts back - what is Misty's mutation. She is really pretty. And how are the bubs coming along? I think she is a YF2 grey dilute ? (anyone correct me if I am wrong).............Babies are gorgeous....last lot of photos were taken only yesterday...I will update tomorrow if any colour changes. Both parents look after babies....Chucky has been in the nesting box with Misty since she laid her first egg.
July 18, 200618 yr Author I agree with everything but the dilute she looks dark on my monitor :fear She was in the shade. How's this ? (older photo but shows her colours clearly)

July 18, 200618 yr All I can say is cute, cute, cute. What a delight it must be to have such a large aviary!
July 18, 200618 yr Author All I can say is cute, cute, cute. What a delight it must be to have such a large aviary! I love ALL my budgies and only want the best for them. My husband and I sit outside and watch them frolic every evening come rain or shine. I love it ! I know all of them by name and personality.....some of the babies recognise me and fly over to sit on my shoulder as I walk around in the aviary, and thats so nice that they remember and have no fear. Unusual for aviary birds. I work from home too, so they all get the best of care and attention. :fear
July 18, 200618 yr You have really beautiful budgies !!! The baby in the last photo is very pretty too
July 19, 200618 yr Author Cheeta's sharp eye has picked up a possible cinnamon spangle in the nest box of Kaya and Sonny....its looking like she may be right. The eldest baby of Misty and Chucky is turning the prettiest shade of diluted blue on the body, with wings like mother. Youngest looks to be a clone of the mother and we have a yellow face blue (maybe type 1) in her box too.
