September 20, 200618 yr Author Puppies are ready for their new homes on Saturday. The pup we call Shelly has been renamed Trinity and she goes Saturday afternoon to her new home just down the road. My friend Liz gets her puppy Maddie probably Sunday or Monday. Flash goes to his home 300 miles away on the 3rd October. We get to keep our girl Maggie Have to find new homes for Oscar and Charlie. I am taking all pups to meet their Dad Gavin on Friday so I can get some father and puppy photos before they all go and to put in their puppy photo albums that go to the new "parents". I gave the puppies some lamb chops earlier to eat and they were running around dragging the lambchops away so the puppy next to them didn't get it. It was so funny
September 20, 200618 yr That hen is one I got from Geraldton from the breeder. Here is another one from same place and now pairing up with Bubblegum Must....have....all.....babies....from....that....pairing!!! I just love Bubblegum, and the hen is an absolutely stunning type 1 !!! And the DF pied next to her in the 1st picture looks remarkably like one of the babies I bred (Cloud). I really like the sponge idea for the splayleg baby. It seems like it would also be more comfortable than splinting. I'm glad that baby is still being fed and accepted in the nest box with it on.

I think the hen is a type 2. There's definitely bleeding going on into the chess there, and also she has yellow on her wing marking.
September 20, 200618 yr Author Yes...type 2. Breeder called her a violet too. Anyway, I have her parentage on record.
September 20, 200618 yr Author This little one fledged today ...out of the nest into the breeding cabinet I walked past the cabinet and saw three lookalike budgies in there...did a doubletake ...thought three budgies that look the same ?? The realised baby budgie was OUT. Too soon I thought so I popped it back in

September 20, 200618 yr Cheeta, I think you're right about the yellow feathers in the chest. I didn't notice it before. But even if she were a type 1, her wing feathers would still be yellow. They are the same color as the head no matter which type. What an adorable baby!!!!!!!!

They are the same color as the head no matter which type. Actually, that is not true in the case of YF1. YF1 are white base blue birds with yellow confine to their face (unlike the YF2), and the YF factor doesn't affect the rest of the body.

Like this boy....who has sadly passed on He had no yellow on his wings
September 21, 200618 yr Yes that is what I remember Nerwen saying when deciding on 1 or 2 a couple days ago with someone's bird. Beautiful Karen boy he is RIP :budgiedance:
September 22, 200618 yr Author Puppies have had their vaccinations and health checks and the vet is extremely pleased with their health. Two puppies go to their new homes this weekend. Here they are, the little angels :angel1: Today was a big day...the puppies got to meet their father. Poor "dad" Gavin got chased everywhere. But he loved it In the aviary, we have about six dominant pied baby budgies coming along. I LOVE dominant pieds. There has been a newborn or two. We lost the albino baby of Rocky and Bunty. It kept getting a large airbubble in its crop with no food evident....and the obvious "cures" didnt seem to work. It was shifted to another mother and still no success. So we lost it ....very sad. I adore albinos and Lutino babies. We also lost the spongebaby as Kaya decided to reject it and it was pushed into the corner of the box and trampled. In the breeding free area of stage 2 of the aviaries, many birds are flirting with each other, romancing and pairing up. But NO nesting boxes and there won't be for quite some time. I had to pull Radar and Bunny out of the aviary though as they paired up and were determined to make a nesting site out of a tiny coconut shell put in there for a play area. They currently have a breeder cabinet. Radar is a violet green normal (appears olive) and Bunny is a mauve normal. Some of the puppies with their dad
September 22, 200618 yr Author Love has given him wings :angel1: Check out this page of handy tips from an Australian Budgie breeder. Great stuff http://www.geocities.com/ritomate/hints2.html
September 22, 200618 yr Love the puppies with their father, thank goodness I won't be forced to look at puppy pictures much longer! I am slowing letting down my guard...............want, want , want!!!! :(Laughing out loud):
September 22, 200618 yr Oh hugs on all your losses esp Spongebob as said as it is nature's course is sometimes the best and the moms know. RIP little ones. I love the puppy picture and the tail on dad is gorgeous what a feather duster (Laughing out loud) , I bet you will miss them.

I love the puppy picture and the tail on dad is gorgeous what a feather duster lol , I bet you will miss them. Yes, I think you are right about nature's course. Sometimes I have tried everything to save a baby budgie to find that further down the track the reason it was rejected in the first place becomes more evident. Some budgie mum's know things, as some other animals reject faulty offspring too. Dad's tail IS magnificent isn't it? He's a beauty this boy and just loved having his babies chasing him around for the afternoon. It was a nice day for it. First time the owner of the father of pups, got to see the pups in "real life". She is in love with Oscar as I am also.
September 22, 200618 yr Oh Oscar, my oscar!!! I LOVE that puppy... I wish hubby would let me bring him home.. I'm so sorry about the loss of the albino baby and spongebob. Lovey's right, nature knows best. as sad as it for us...
