September 2, 200618 yr What a great job you guys are doing. Wow! Look at all those budgies! Would you say that your budgies are predominantly blue based? I see some green but most of what appear green look like they may be yellow face on my monitor?
September 2, 200618 yr It looks fantastic - the budgies look so happy! I could cry from the cuteness of those puppies - the one on its back
September 2, 200618 yr I love the Ken picture - great job Ken!! DON'T FALL The puppies OMG are so adorable you just want to squeeze them and kiss them. I see some green but most of what appear green look like they may be yellow face on my monitor? I guess you could say mostly blue based. I am not overly fond of too many of the ordinary greens. I try to have every colour I like and get nice surprises from my breeding program. I LOVE violets. I am fond of opalines. Spangles are just great and greywings. I have many colours of budgies but they arent always in the one photo I love the Ken picture - great job Ken!! DON'T FALL The puppies OMG are so adorable you just want to squeeze them and kiss them. What an excellent job - if I was a budgie I would want to with you, I love how they are all gathered together and what an array of colors. Great job both of you! It's been fun with the planning and getting it done, even though we aren't finished yet. I am very pleased and the feeling you get from happy budgies in their new spaces is great. Ken did well to be up a ladder with his knees as bad as they were today too. I have yet to add more toys and playthings to the aviary, but it will come with time. It is surprising how much space they still have.....and no more fast flying accidents in the future.......Stage 3 is next. Puppies are doing so well. They gorge on food and need a wash after each meal. Some of them are up to their belly buttons in the dinner dish They have learnt to growl and bark and play. They wag their tails and they seek out human comfort and cuddles. They wake up and run to you with tails wagging. At a shade over 3 weeks I think they are doing well. September 2, 200618 yr Oh they are going to be the perfect companion with such socialization but should I be surprised no. They have great "human parents" . They congregate in 1 place budgies do. I was looking at my cage thinking I could separate the bottom and put in a cockatiel and still have room (shame on me :(Laughing out loud) or even a couple more budgies. But I feel that the bottom of the cage is too low for comfort for any bird. But really I do have room for more birds without getting another cage. But I just don't think Tim will agree.
September 2, 200618 yr stunning once again Karen I love how they are all sitting together. And the puppies I see 'little' Flash is chowing on down there
September 3, 200618 yr Author stunning once again Karen I love how they are all sitting together. And the puppies I see 'little' Flash is chowing on down there Little Flash takes over the dinner dish Jenni. He is always the one in the dish up to his hips !! I keep having to pull him back and show him "manners" . I adore Flash...he's as great pup...so laid back and casual. He likes to sleep on his back. All pups well over the kilo mark now. Budgies are very happy in their new space. They like the area up the back of the cage where we took out the shadecloth and put clear sheeting. It's like a sunroom to them. In summer when it is hotter they have the cool area in the balance of that aviary with the apex roof area to perch in. I hope to get time to make some new toys later.
September 3, 200618 yr Author Plans might change. As the whole remaining section is still quite huge and we were going to split that into two halves......we may split it into 3 sections now. The idea being, the back wall area is to be set up for breeder cabinets (wish you were here Daz)....then next two areas for budgies....maybe boys in one girls in another. That way I get an area for retirement budgies too..... who could part with their old budgies ?? Not me...we could start a retirement home for old budgies But I believe I must concrete the floor of the breeding cabinet room too. Maybe just cover with pavers and then cover with cement.....another ongoing plan in action
September 4, 200618 yr well best to think of them now Karen now don't think about the extra work in the long run which way would be best?
September 4, 200618 yr Author well best to think of them now Karen now don't think about the extra work in the long run which way would be best? Concrete floor means no mice tunnelling in and easy to keep clean We have time to do it all.

September 6, 200618 yr Author HI I FINALLY JOIN AFTER WEEKS OF BEING A GUEST I LOVA ALL OF BUBBLES BIRDS IT IS SO AWESOME I AM TRYIN TO BREED ALSO Welcome ...........budgie crazy I wish I lived where you do but I'd have to have all my birds there too
September 6, 200618 yr Author ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ******************************************************** Most of my budgies have decided to moult, so its raining feathers, all have "spiky hairdos" and sitting looking grumpy, fluffy and ragged But they are all well and happy. Some of the Mum budgies that werent looking in peak condition are now sprightly and energetic and flying about in their new space. This photo is for Nerwen....Harley and Rose's baby... Zeuss on the left and Sophie having a chat This baby resulted from a "found" egg on the ground hatched under another bird. Parents unknown I call her Mini-me and she started out so tiny and still is quite small. This is the red eyed albino with cinnamon wing markings and green back that may be a spangle fallow ??? (Ecxcuse the bird poop on its back...can't quite reach to get it off ). Eyes still very bright red. and seen here with other youngsters of Ciaras Grey baby of Slinky and Bloo and violet baby of Amara Some aviary shots from today I bought some 15 mm diameter rope and kind of crocheted it by hand and ended up with a rope perch that the budgies love to use. Here it is. Pardon the fluffy budgies....it was a cold and windy day today and they are mostly all moulting. Edited September 6, 200618 yr by Bubbles
September 6, 200618 yr Hello my big boy Boy Rose and Harleys baby is ver interesting The head bars just seem to hit a line and stop at the back of the neck there. (He) does look sf spangle but that one feather sticking out looks like a normal, but with two spangle parents that can't happen. I wonder about a dilute gene as well.

(He) does look sf spangle but that one feather sticking out looks like a normal, but with two spangle parents that can't happen. I wonder about a dilute gene as well. We breed unusual budgies here at the Budgiebird Hilton Rose and Harleys baby is a kind of diluted colour. Mother Rose's wings have a pale grey in them. With baby ( boy? ) , even the blue is a soft baby blue. The wing patterns dont seem to be spangle type all over....just in areas and normal in others....all in the palest of grey markings. Has violet near the cheeks too. Those two yellow face greys of Jade and Goliath's are mauves if the steel blue cheek patches mean that. Mauve is an interesting colour description I think....I have many mauves and there is distinct differences in them. There is obviously many types of mauve budgie. Isn't Zeuss a real honey now with his pretty blue cere ?
September 6, 200618 yr I love the big ropes and the rope ladder you made it makes it look so jungle like in there . Awesome babies and yes that is defintely a fallow now from what I can make with my ammature knowledge .
September 6, 200618 yr Hmmmm I leave for one month, and look at all your beautiful babies!!!! wow, I must say, Harley and Rose's baby is an interesting one.. and so is that yellow cinnamon green back red eyed baby of yours. You're coming up with 'new mutations' left right and center! I have to pop in and see these little ones in person and the little puppies as well just as soon as I get over this cold that I caught!!
