September 12, 200618 yr Author ************************************ UPDATE....Macey Gray has been driven from her nest through the night and won't go back to her three babies. I do not know the cause of her abandoning the nest.....maybe a mouse ? I havent many breeding birds right now so fostering the babies was a hard decision. You kind of have to match the babies ages to others similar. So in the end, the babies have gone in with Kaya's four. Makes 7 babies in total in there....maybe too many. But Kaya and Sonny are very good parents, and we are hopeful. Kaya pulled the new chicks in under her to get them warm and I will check their crops later to see if they have been fed. Macey and Prince are now in the "holiday" aviary. Edited September 12, 200618 yr by Bubbles

September 12, 200618 yr Author hope everything works out with the babies karen I have just checked Kaya and Sonny's new extended family and ALL babies are very well fed. If all goes well and they grow, I will move some then into other nesting boxes. :hap: **************************************** UPDATE ....Jade and Goliath are trying for round 3 of egglaying. I discovered two eggs when the last two babies fledged just now. Jade has "egg-bum" so I will wait for the third egg and foster the three eggs and put Jade and Goliath in the "holiday camp" Saturn and her boy Pluto now have three babies :hap:

September 12, 200618 yr Author Puppies are now running around the house. They find fun things to play with....like Shoes :hap: ....the natural diet of the dog :hap: We have to watch where we step and walk ( for many reasons ). They are a great source of amusement. Two weeks and most of them will be in their new homes. I phoned the vet today to get a price on the puppies first injections... $60.50 per injection. I then asked for "litter discount"....the price drastically dropped from $60.50 per injection to $26.50 and I guess they are still making a profit. Cheaper by the half dozen obviously Puppies daytime outside "digs" our pup Maggie my friends pup Maddie
September 12, 200618 yr Author dying with cuteness over here Karen There is a saying...."Love is a warm puppy"
September 12, 200618 yr Thanks so much Una for your lovely posting. and here is a puppy video http://media.putfile.com/puppies-93 This is such a perfect vide. I want one too! I can almost feel their sweet, soft fur on my face. I have been reading this journal for about two hours now and I am amazed at you. With all you and Ken are going through, you have taken the time and effort to keep all of us informed and warmed by your beautiful life and work. I just had to stop and tell you how much it means to me and to so many others too. You are a precious and rare soul filled with love and light. I appreciate so much how much I have learned from reading about you and your life and loves. Thank you so much for sharing, and for being so open. If I could afford it I would fly out there just to hug you and your sad man. (and of course steal some babies) Thanks again, and keep up the great work, Love, Shell

September 13, 200618 yr Author ************************************************************* Just checked on the fostered babies ( Macey and Prince's ) I put in with Kaya and Sonny. All pink blobs well fed and wriggling like mad. Kaya was preening them and pulling the little ones in under her. She's a good Mum and lets me do anything with her and her babies. She is part tame. Some of those babies have plum eyes. I must admit, I dont know who's babies are who's in there now. Maybe you buys can help me work that out when they feather up. They were too little for legrings. Ty and Di's dominant pied babies look fantastic. One is mostly white so far. Could that be a DF dominant pied ? All babies (fledglings) in the patio aviary are doing well.
September 13, 200618 yr so cool when they get bigger we will have to try and figure it all out the dominant genes are simple if the parents are not and the baby is then bingo (Laughing out loud) but the recessives both the birds could carry the gene so you really wouldn't know unless they are green and both parents are blue (as an example). I look forward to pics
September 13, 200618 yr Author One day later and the fostered babies of Macey and Prince are doing well with Kaya and Sonny. Harley and Rose have 7 eggs Their baby is doing fine and has moved into the baby nursery with other babies. Cricket and puppies ( She's under there somewhere ) !! The new kennel ( looks like Central Train Station )
September 13, 200618 yr Author oh my how cute look at Cricket she is like HELP me YES I think six pups was a bit of a shock to her as well as us. She does give us those "looks" sometimes as if to say HELP But she is her own worst enemy and a very good mother. We have to stop her trying to do everything for them and stop her trying to feed them all the time too. But she is trying to wean them off her as well. They attach to the dairy bar any chance they get and she just up and walks away dragging pups behind her. Its quite funny to watch actually.
September 13, 200618 yr :(Laughing out loud): Yes I know the HELP me look Brandy used to get it when the kids were little.
September 13, 200618 yr CAN'T WAIT FOR MY TWO SHIH-TZU TO START THE PUPPY FAIR ALL BOTH MY DOGS ARE PREGNANT MEANING EIGHT PUPS
