Hey all, I finally picked up my new budgie today?he/she does not have a name yet, any suggestions? It is hard to tell from the pictures, but do you think someone can tell me what the color mutation might be? Sorry for the bad picture quality. I cannot tell if this is a male of female either, a little later I will try to get a close up of the cere. I forgot how to tell if a pied is a male or female, how do you do that?

 Kind of blurry (like I can talk) but looks like a very pretty bird you have there, no idea of the sex. Pickle, Petey, Grasshopper, Sherbet, Avocado, Flower, Bamboo, Greenfield, Parsley, Lettuce, Brocolli, Forest, Froggy, Arbutus, Cabbage, Lemonlime, sorry, it's really hard to name when one does not know the sex.:(

He looks alot like Bea's Oz but with the blurriness it is hard to tell the marking and the cere. Try for a more clearer picture, gorgeous little one for sure :(

GORGEOUS!

Male- Lucky, Lokie, Alex, Alec, Sammy, Pinto, Patches, Percy, Pongo, Kirby, Aspen, Pine, Ember, Mint, Cookie, Cracker, Mickey, Marlin, Nemo, Marsh, Max, Peter Pan, Eli, Homer, Kramar, Stevie, Petey, Hank, Clyde, Zeus, Snoopy, Xander, Felix, Xavier, Buddy, Clyde, Bogey, Aries, Banner, Teddy, or Field?

Female- Amy, Emma, Maggie, Mango, Meggie, Belle, Haley, Pepper, Axel, Annie, Misty, Peaches, Pinto, Percy, Purdy, Lilo, Stitch, Coral, Hannah, Claire, Carmin, Ariel, Bella, Naomi, Laila, Simone, Soleil, Yolkie, Marsha, Feild, Grace, Lilly, Cleo, Chloe, Zoe, Patches, Lucy, Buttercup, Daffodil, Daisy or Tango?

Kirby :(

Yeah I was just thinking that mine looks like bea's. Wow thanks for all the names that is a lot. I will be right back I am going to get a better picture. One sec

I cannot really get a good picture, but I can try to explain the ceres look. It is pink/purple color with blue on the edges, and there are white circles around the nostrils. Is there anyone who could tell me the color from the pics? Also what method do you all use to tame young budgies? I put my hand in the cage and move it towards him/her and he/she will stand on there sometimes. I also have taken him/her out and just held it. She sometimes squaks but not really, and she tries to get away a little, and bites when I first get her. Well not really bite, but nip a little.

:P Peeping Yellow Budgie? Sorry can't get any vibes from your photo. :ausb:

:ausb: Let poor LemonLime out of the spot light so he/she can get some proper rest...........

Thats what I was going to say, but I had to get one last one, she is covered up and I think sleeping now.

Someone on here had a really good website that had a lot of pics on how to tell male or female, I just dont remember what it was called, or who had it.

you can go to www.budgietalk.com for information on taming and if you go to the FAQ's on this website you can see a good pictures of the ceres.

With what I see I will say a dominant pied, the description of the cere sounds male but the picture looks female. Getting a good shot of the back to see the wings patterns is needed to see the patterning. There could be possible opaline or spangle or none some of the picture look like it and other's don't :budgiedance:.

Give him/her a couple more days to warm up and then try again for pictures.

Here is a good website for mutations to see if you can determine here her mutation more clearly until then. As for her coloring need a better picture, with no flash best acheived when you have the bird in the sunlight by a window :wine. http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html

okay cool thanks. The first site you gave me was the one I was talking aboutm, I was just drawing a blank. In a few days I will post some more pics, and by that time or maybe a little later she will be out of the cage, so it will be easier to get pics.

To me she is looking like a female after I read a few things, so these are the names I am thinking of: Sherbert, Tango, Athena, Bam Bam not really a girl name, Echo, Emerald, Kanoni (African for little bird), Tweety, Nova, Rhianna, Cirus, Sirius, Skittles (since she has a couple colors, and skittles the colors of the rainbow). I got some of these from a naming site. I cant come up with anything else, but I really like Echo, because its a cool name, and even if she turns out to be a male it doesnt really matter. What do you think?

:ausb: I like Echo as well, it's also the name of one of my babies that I gave to a friend. Echo can actually say Echo Budgie Budgie, Echo Echo. :)

My guess would be dilute goldenface dominant pied (possibly spangle). Clearer shot of wings would help. What a pretty bird. More pics when s/he is settled. I'm still not sure of sex - leaning towards male.

I say you have a female there. And she is a green opaline dominant pied.

I think then I like the name Echo for her. I am not good at creative names. Yeah the pattern is hard to tell, but I am liking what I am hearing from all of you, so in a couple days I will get her out of the cage and get some better pictures

yeah Echo is an awesome name. I dont know if I should do this yet, but do you think I could take her out for a little today? To get pics and play with her?

many on the board start to interact with their birds straight away and I've noticed they are the ones that settle with hands and humans quickly.

I took her out a little and put her on her playpen thing with bars and swings. She seems to be really tame, the only time she tried to get away was when she saw her cage and got back in it. I will take pictures tomorrow she is sleeping now.
