If any of you remember I posted a while back about 4 babies well we have 3 more now! Their names are Jelly, Jade, and Elvis. Elvis hatched on father's day so my dad named him. Elvis has a splayed leg. Tying a yarn hobble around his legs should help right? Ill post pictures soon. What does a rainbow budgie look like?

P.S. You may also remember I asked if a budgie would sit on a cockatiel egg as her own? Mine did. We went and checked on it and it was peeping but died We have one named tTaz moore later Bye!

I have just successfully fixed a severely splayed legged budgie baby, (from age nearly two weeks) but I used the makeup sponge method. I got the rectangular makeup sponges and cut one into three making a section about an inch and a half wide by nearly an inch. Cut two slots in it for the feet and slipped its little leggies through. Pushed the sponge up above its little knees-ies and baby got around okay in the nesting box....did that for a week and checked ......one leg was good the other the same as before. So re applied the sponge with slots closer together for another week. Took it off and no problems whatsoever. This baby has now fledged and you would never know there was ever a problem. I knew about the rings and stocking setup Karen used but was afraid it would become entangled with siblings so I opted for this method. This baby was the worst case I had ever seen...legs were completely out sideways like wings ...in wing position. I am so pleased it worked..........here is the newly fledged leg splay baby AFFA173.jpgAFFA177.jpgnerwen052.jpg
