Posted July 12, 200619 yr Found this forum just googling for budgie stuff as I was trying to find out what colour my new budgie is. After seeing pictures of some other peoples' lovely birds I now know that he (pretty sure he's a he) is a yellowface type II, who we have named Smudge, for his smudgy green and blue chest (and it also rhymes with budge :budgiedance: ) Bought my first bird when I was ten with my birthday money, parents weren't that keen, but relented. Pip was a lovely normal green bird and won over the entire family in about 10 minutes! He was already hand tamed by his breeder, but quickly became my best friend. He learnt to talk, was awesome at playing football (he took over ownership of some yellow practise plastic golf balls my dad had as they had holes in and he could pick them up, throw them and then chase after them) and loved toast. Sadly, he died a year ago at the respectable age of ten. Now, we have Smudge, who is very different. He's more nervous than Pip, but hopefully with patience he'll blossom. He's just had his first few tentative forays into the world outside his cage and made himself a nice nest on top of the curtains! Will post some pictures when I get a chance. Hopefully I can pick up some tips here as to how to go about making sure Smudge is just as happy as Pip was.
July 12, 200619 yr Great to you have here, that is how I found the forum too just searching around for a great budgie site. Pip sounded wonderful, what a personality RIP and he is alwys looking over you. Do you have pictures of Smudge we would love to see him, and if you go to www.budgietalk.com you can read alot of different information on taming. There are great tips & advice. Again, welcome!
