Budgie Pikkies From Nerwens Visit To W.a.

Today was a good day for Nerwens visit as we had some newly fledged babies out and about....some flying, some trying to fly, some scuttling about at ground level, and others just content to "hitch a ride" with someone. Also visiting was Rachel, Nerwensfriend, and Lin and Cheeta ( real name Bih Lin) . Lin wore most of the baby budgies in her hair or on her shoulders. Nerwen was "stuck with the double factor spangle baby (boy) who seemed content to sit in her hand and preen and then go to sleep right there. nerwen021.jpgnerwen023.jpg .....hope you don't mind the photo Nerwen.

Here is the total opposites of each other.....tiny, tiny Bao (newly fledged today ) and very large Buddha nerwen012.jpgnerwen010.jpg

and two newly fledged brothers preening each other ..... nerwen027-2.jpgnerwen028.jpg

No, I don't know how much Buddha weighs yet but will try and weigh tomorrow. Shouldn't be too hard. Buddha is too heavy to fly just now... :P and Bao is a dwarf budgie :P

great pics Karen.. :P I love the preening ones too.. but I was there to witness them doing it so that was even better!!

I'm just bummed that I had to leave early... would have loved to stay a while longer.

Oh, my fav baby budgie today... Bring on Buddha!!! He's one handsome fella!! :P

Great shots!!! :P :fear :o I love the preening picture :P

Can you all see why I wanted little Bao? What a little cutie! At one stage Bao was preening the skin around my eye, which was lovely until he felt a piece of skin needed to be removed

If I hadn't lost Bao's mother and Bao was the only link to her....she could have gone home with you Lin. But you have visitation rights.....and maybe in the future when she is old enough to breed we can reproduce her too for you.

Today brings babies scuttling about the aviary .....Goliaths baby CRYSTAL is flying everywhere. Scooter (recessive pied spangle legsplay baby) is flying a fair bit. The others are trying to be beetles scuttling about the aviary floor. All are eating seed and begging from parents if they see them :)

I wish everyone could see the active community in your aviary Karen. It is an absolute delight to sit and watch the social life that happens in there! Constant bums up in the seed containers, flying, flirting, etc. I'm sure Nerwen and Rachel agree with me - it was absolute bliss to sit and watch!

I'd love a little Bao - so i have about 18 months to wait?

I LOVE my place and sitting and watching the budgies too.....don't get much work done because of it....but thats life.

We'd better consult Nerwen and how to make more little Bao's .....As she (Bao) is an exact replica of her mother and her father was a YF1 cinnamon boy ( Stumpy who I still have ) ....we may have to find the same type for her future partner to make more like her.

Don't forget tiny! She is just soooo tiny, like a little toy!

I would absolutely LOVE to see your avairy in person Karen - I wish I knew you when I was in Perth last year :) I do have plans to go back one day though, but not for a couple of years.... we will be taking the Ghan to Darwin and then travelling down to perth by car.... But probably by that time I will have my own version of the Bubbles Hilton! hehe - How amazing was it for that DF spangle to sleep on Nerwens hand :) they are great pics. :P

Kirby has named the double factor white spangle boy Zeuss.......Zeuss is doing very well in the aviary today, exploring and feeding, happy and content. Flying quite well too. Scooter (recessive pied spangle....former legsplay budgie) is flying well too. Buddha (skyblue greywing?) is doing bunny hops and little flits, but is too heavy to get properly off the ground. Bao ( YF2 cinnamon ) also doing fine. All babies hanging out together, and eating together, except Zeuss who likes to find the highest point to sit and watch all about him...He is a bit aloof and regal that boy. Bruiser the green budgie is still bunny hopping most places but learning to fly short distances.

Those pictures are adorable! If I ever get out your way I'd love to stop by and visit. :) You guys are lucky you live so close to each other.

Wonderful!!!!

Now I just have to work on that plane ticket......

((HUGS))) Karen :) I loved it that day just chatting away with the bird singing and having fun themselves. You're lucky I didn't sneak Zeuss away ( love the name too) Lin how is little Punkie liking his new home?

seeing all of your wonderful birds made me call home later that day to check on mine

Rach loved Macey Grey loved her colours and Crystal.

(Laughing out loud) I Also loved seeing the pics of you uys having a blast... wish i was there though  (Laughing out loud)

ps- I named lil Zeus :) (Laughing out loud)... The dfs white baby right? Yep, i named him! (Laughing out loud)...

Kirby

yep you did, just karen couldn't recall his name while there :) but she know you have given him one. I also had little Cameo most times too.

(Laughing out loud) yes...

As soon as we were on msn together, instead of saying "Hey boy" right away, she said "What was the male baby you named?"...(Laughing out loud). I also named Cameo (Laughing out loud) :) I love her soo much ! ! ! I really want her... now that i think of it, her and Zeus should breed when old enough! They would have stunning birds!!! Awww how cute would they be? (Laughing out loud)

Tell Rachel I like Macey Grey too....she is a funny colour....she's grey but she almost looks "pink".....Zeuss is the perfect name for that DF Spangle boy. He's a looker. Very aloof and regal....sits and surveys the domain like royalty. Scooter and Bao go everywhere together, then Bao sits with Buddha and keeps him company. I will weigh Buddha later. Cameo is a sweetie....she explores and always looks "cheerful" :) Bao acts like theres not enough hours in the day and scuttles about everywhere.....so cute. Buddha sits and Buddha sits and Buddha sits. :P ....in the sun and eats from the floor dish. Funny Buddha's name just evolved. One of my birds in the aviary has gone missing (no...not Lin) :P .......I have a violet opaline bird dying to be a mother and she is paired up with a recessive pied boy. I have had a few situations where some hopeful Mums go missing to be found nesting later in very weird spots, like in or under logs, behind the brush fencing in the aviary, behind someone else nesting box in a crevice in the wall. The onyl way to "find" them is to wait in there at feeding time and see where they come out from and where they go. Sometimes you have to relocate them as they are having babies and eggs in a really silly and dangerous spot...........So I am in search of Amara.
