Posted June 28, 200618 yr My budgie that I have hand raised since 2 weeks of age has a "thing" for peoples hair. The second he lands on your head he goes for it. Any one got any suggestions as to how to stop him?? Although it's quite funny when you think about it - it gets very annoying!!
June 29, 200618 yr The only thing you can do is wear a hat - it's quite normal for birds to 'preen' your hair
June 29, 200618 yr cute but I can see how it can be annoying When you have had enough I would have him step up and take him out of your hair, what does he do when you do this? You can distract him with other type of preening toys that are out there and there are alot. What have you tried to stop the behavior?
June 29, 200618 yr Author He has toys in his cage which occupy him. I let him out everyday to fly around, but he just likes to "make out" with us. I put him back in his cage, that is, when he lets me catch him. He is only about 4 months old, I thought he'd be way too young to have any desires yet!!!!
June 29, 200618 yr he is a cutie it is funny but l can see why it would be annoying , l would wear a hat
June 29, 200618 yr Author Yep, I guess thats the only way to stop him. When I explained to my 11 year old son what he was doing he was nearly sick! (but then rolled round on the floor in fits of laughter)
June 29, 200618 yr Author I hope he grows out of it too - and quickly!! I duck for cover when I see him headed my way. But then he just takes out his frustration on someone else!!
June 29, 200618 yr Oh how at this very moment i am overjoyed that my budgie Munchy only preens my hair with his beak Although he has a "Human Bare Skin Fetish" as soon as he is on a bare piece of skin he starts doing his lil squat side to side motion while grabbing on for dear life with his wings even if we are walking past him he will POUNCE on us and go for it like a wild maniac... funniest situation i saw was when my 8 year old daughter was laying on the floor on her back playing the playstation and Munchy jumped on her forehead and started going for it :hap: He is rather naughty though and gets himself rather worked up in a hurry if we are not fast enough which is quite disgusting Cheers  Una
