Posted June 27, 200619 yr okay, I came into the computer room this morning and noticed for the first time that Casper is pulling or biting, should I say, on the cage. She is out of breeding season, her cere has turned a light pink, and I was told that she will go back into breeding season sometime in July. Is this normal behavior for a parakeet or is she trying to get out of the cage? She is doing this to the cage near the window where she can see Passions cage. She will stop for a few minutes then go back and start up again. Just wondering. Thanks for any help.
June 27, 200619 yr chewing and biting is very normal for budgies some more then others her cere is a pink? it should be a tan whitish in females in all varieties
June 27, 200619 yr It sounds like she wants out. Probably to go see the other bird. If you can move the cage so she can't see the other one, the behavior may lessen. Are they seperated to prevent breeding or due to quarantine? I'm moving this topic to a more appropriate forum where you may get more answers.

She just came out of breeding season and she can see Loverboy, I am wondering if she is trying to get to him. She seems to have lost interest in Jasper, she picks on him still, meaning being the cage bully. Whenever he tries to go eat, she chases him away from the food dish, or if he tries to cuddle her, she chases him away.
June 29, 200619 yr I would cover both sides of the cages so she can't see him that is what it sounds like that she wants to get out to see him.
