I was finding Sunny impossible to tame, he wouldn't step up, getting him back in his cage was a nightmare, and he was so bonded to Bobby that he appeared to be afraid of me... So last night I braved the scissors (with help from Bea!) and gave him a small clip.

Well I have a new budgie, Mr super tame, has spent the whole night snuggled on my shoulder, preening my fingers and face, letting me pat him, he has completely changed his attitude. I now have hope!!!

so sweet, I understand I have been battling it with Pretty since I got Merlin I think I am going to have to do it. Because he has become more unmanagable which makes Merlin a little more difficult. Pretty will still step up but for a few seconds and then take off. Err...

Awww how cute...

That's how Sunny was too - I felt so guilty last night after I did it - he was holding his wings out and looked so sad - but when he snuggled into me tonight I felt it was well worth it - and he is due to start moulting soonish so hopefully they will grow back in no time!!

 

I am amazed at the instant difference in his attitude...

yeah the guilt is getting me too I hate to take his flight away, he was clipped when I got him and then I let him grow out and he is just gorgeous in flight

I am thinking of clipping pretties wings because when ever she flys away she bonks into something and i dont want her to get hurt... once she got loose and bonked into the wall-hard! She had a tiny bit of blood on her face. I dont want this to happen again, so I just might...

Well some of his flights have grown back again, and unfortunately he is back to his old self again :ausb: I guess some birds just aren't meant to be tamed!

 

He will step up and take a ride on my shoulder, stay there and sit in my hair, but that's about it! I still love him though!! He just has his own personality and that is fine

I think that if he is hurting himself by flying like that, then perhaps clipping his wings would be kinder for him. It took Sunny a couple of days to adjust, and heaps of guilt enducing looks from him, but he was quite happy to scuttle around and climb still.

I know what you mean Pretty sounds like Sunny and I use Merlin has my bait , you have Bobby and he is awesome much more tamed down then either one of mine. How is Bobby doing with Sunny? Any pics soon
