I've been trying to think up some interesting things to feed the budgies tonight and i discovered a packet of soup mix which we aren't planning on using, it looks like it might make a yummy budgie snack but i was wondering if any of the things in it were bad? It contains: pearl barley, yellow split peas, green split peas, red split lentils, green northern beans, mung beans, black eye beans, small red beans, faba beans, whole green lentils, pinto beans.

 

Also, how would i cook it so it's nice a soft for them?

Sounds alright to me.....would we be having little budgie pppfffftttttsssss !! though ?? Best way to cook it is probably in a pressure cooker as split peas take forever to cook. Time for pressure cooker ? I don't know.

What's a pressure cooker? And it's not my problem if they start farting, the aviary has some plastic sheeting stuff to keep the cold, wind and rain out so they can keep their lovely smells all to themselves. I'm so mean!

Lovey, it is not the mix that makes a soup as in salt added and flavours etc.....it is just a pack of dried lentils

so it is just the bag of the beans mixed together not an actual soup mix like say onion soup mix.

Eggs-ackly !! It is sold here called a soup mix as it is added to all your other ingredients in a soup to thicken it up and make it healthy.

Oh I see...(Laughing out loud) We American's don't eat healthy : just kidding.

I'm not 100% sure, but I've heard that you have to completely cook the lentil first before giving them to birds or they are toxic?!? like I said I'm not 100% sure, but am sure that I've heard/read that somewhere.... that's why I've never given lentil to any of my birds.
