Posted June 14, 200619 yr Hi guys, hope you can help in one of my breeding cabnets I've 2 lovely nice size babies. They are about 6 weeks old, however the lovely grey one is so huge (much bigger than the parents and the are large birds themselves) that it can't sit on the perches it does walk around the bottom of the breeding cabnet but does lay down alot. It has a poopy but and thats been like that all the time. It is a magnifgent bird but I'm worried for its health. I t doesn't look that big in the pics but beleive me for a 6 weel old chick it's big. Will this bird survive........ Cheers people Edited June 14, 200619 yr by Paulh29
June 14, 200619 yr I am seeing some malformed feathers on your bird. There is a virus....see this link http://www3.sympatico.ca/davehansen/polyoma.html Often called french moult it can appear in varying degrees.....some of the symptoms are malformed feathers and lack of ability to fly. It may not be what your bird has, but worth reading up on. I have two chicks with french moult that are now feathering up, but show some of the same kind of malformed feathers I see on your bird. Also lack of iodine can cause large weight issues in birds. Worth doing some research on anyway. Cheers Karen
