Can budgies get out of a cage that has 1 inch bar width?

That's double the recommended bar spacing for budgies. I don't think it's so much an issue of them escaping as it is of them hurting themselves because they may get their heads caught in the bars.

okay, cause I have a larger cage, but it has some spots that are not covered by mesh wiring that I need to coverup before moving them to it.

here is the cage I am going to move them too. cage.jpg

I know that it is a ferret cage, but hubby to dang stubborn to let me buy a larger bird cage, plus they cost too much around here, can't get a larger one here for less then $80. Will this cage be okay once I cover the spots?

Never mind, I'm going to put them back in the other cage until I can talk him into getting me a lager one, atleast they seemed happier in that cage then they are in this one.

that is a tiel cage and the spacing is too big

OMG, MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO LET ME ORDER THAT CAGE OFF OF E-BAY

:wub:;):):(:wub::wub:

I know it is a breeding cage, but it is a lot bigger then the one they are in. I am so happy, what made him change his mind I have no idea, but I am so glad he did.

New cage

I will have to take the divider out and buy some dowel rods and make new perches, but that will be okay, atleast they will have a bigger and better cage. :wub: I can't wait.

stay away from dowel, if you buy try the natural perches and rope perches better for their feet by far and of course natural you can make I did that.

Oh okay, well can you use the grapevine that you can buy at the arts & craft stores for perches?

great question I think so as long as it is natural, give bubbles a pm I think she has it in her avairy.

I used maple branches from our tree, it was simple. Cut them baked them for 30 mins at 250 F, cooled them and then I just layed them across in different directions. They love the branches with the small twigs and buds because they break them and chew them. I also have them fingering down so they hop all over the place on them. Best perches I could have :D. And I made a double swing with one that they both love to sit on.

Bad thing is I don't have any maple trees around here and wouldn't know one if I saw it (Laughing out loud).

there are a lot of safe woods :) you can use other them maple :)
