Posted June 13, 200619 yr okay, when Casper & Jasper were in the round cage they were pretty close with one another, they would preen each other, snuggle, etc. and shortly after I put them in the bigger cage they did the same, and now Casper is getting kinda hateful towards Jasper, Not mean aggressive hateful. Whenever Jasper tries to go near her, she chases him away, or she will kinda chirp loud at him and he will go to the other end of the cage. He does the chirping noise like under his breathe and bobs his head at her, but when he tries to snuggle or kinda like kiss her, she looks like she is trying to peck him. I started noticing this last night and they are doing it still this morning. Is this normal behavior for a hen in breeding season?

She's just telling him she's not ready or plain just not in the mood. She's seeing he is "serious" and she's not having any of it just at this moment in time. It may pass, it may not. Nothing tragic though. Maybe his impulses are a bit strong for her taste. She's saying..." honey, I've got a headache " ...go away
