l found this recipe on the internet and l was wondering if it is alright to feed to budgies .

Recipie one (Human friendly)

1 tsp Minced garlic

2 Cups cooked Pinto Beans (I use cooked lentils or canned chick peas myself)

1/4 cup Peanut Butter

1/4 cup Lemon Juice

2 tbsp water

1 tsp cumin

dash salt

pinch cayenne pepper

Recipie two (Bird friendly - my own innovation)

2 cups cooked pinto beans (or cooked lentils or canned chick peas)

1/4 cup Peanut butter

1/4 cup Lemon Juice

1/4 cup veggies

2 tbsp water

1 tsp cumin (optional)

dash Cayenne (optional)

In food processor, process all the ingredients until it makes a very fine paste. The human recipie is excellent on crackers or spread on pita bread. The bird version is relished by breeding birds as it's great warm and mushy and it's very high in protien. If you wanted to add calcium, I'd probably toss in a whole cooked egg (shell included) and puree the Hummus real good. The hummus can then be stuck into the cracks of pine cones and rolled in seeds, or it can be scooped and hidden inside toys that the bird must forage for.

is cayenne not good for budgies or is it okay for them ?

I would leave out the pepper and if you feed as a treat because peanut butter can be very fattening for budgies. The other ingredents look okay. I may be corrected.

l thought that the pepper would be not good for them .

l will give them some for a treat only , of course only if they like it though ( mine are finicky eaters  )
