Is Sandy Sick?

My budgie has taken to sitting in the bottom corner of his cage (we think he is a cock!) is he poorly or is he a hen who wants to nest? He does come on to his perches and is eating and drinking but then goes back down into his corner. We inherited him from an elderly relative who had died so don't know his real age but think he is about 5 years old

female or male it doesn't really sound normal.

Do you have a picture so we can see if your bird is a he or she.

When sitting on the floor is your bird all fluffed up? I personally would ring the avian vet by you and have him looked at because birds can tend to go down hill very fast when not treated.

Have you not had him very long? Quite often, a new bird will go to the bottom of the cage in the corner to hide. After that, sometimes they will hang from the corner of the cage and turn themselves practically inside out doing flips. It could be nervous behavior if Sandy is a new bird. Is he still doing this?

We have had sandy for about 3 years and he has never done this sort of thing before.

He is eating his food, drinking his water and eating his treats but just keeps doing this odd thing of going on the bottom of the cage (not all the time, he is on his perch as I am typing this) but it just seems stange. ;)

He is a bit fluffed up but he doesn't seem to be poorly as he is still eating and drinking but just keeps going to the bottom of the cage and we are wondering why. I will try and get a picture of him and post it.

:)
