Posted June 9, 200619 yr I'm sorry i've been posting a lot about how to bond with my budgie. The thing is i know what I'm doing is not working! Everyday i go next to the cage and talk to my budgie for a while. Then after try to get her to come outside the cage, i just take out her highest perch and she wants to be high so comes on my finger, and i take her out. When she's out of the cage i put her on my shoulder and go on the computer or do some homework. Sometimes i put the cage in my room and it's always there at night too. It's been almost 2 months and i haven't seen any improvement. She still hangs on as tight as she can on her perch when i press my finger on her belly inside the cage. When she is outside she comes on my finger and will stay on my shoulder, but she has been doing this since the first few days i got her. She is a handfed budgie. We have absolutely No bond. I know I have been asking this a lot, it's really frustrating. What should i do?!?! If you say spend time with her, what should i do while we spend time. I need some tips...PLEASE!...(Laughing out loud), im so desperate. Thanks. Edited June 9, 200619 yr by Mavi_Kus
June 9, 200619 yr have you tried snacks like millett when you have her on your finger? I do millett for Merlin & use Merlin for Pretty . Another this is can and may be her personality. Just like some people are super friendly others are not. All birds have different personalities and we can never be sure if we are going to have a super friendly one or a more independent soul (like my Pretty).
June 9, 200619 yr My budgie was like that for 4 months or so, just hang in there. Have you tried playing games like peek a boo or the towel game with her? I know they seem silly but they really do work.
June 10, 200619 yr Just regular peek a boo like you'd play with a baby. http://www.landofvos.com/wwwboard/messages/425.html that explains the towel game. What I do is put Buster/Amira on the floor and cover my head with a bath towel and peek out at him, then say "BOO" or something like that and they really seem to like it. Usually they crawl in to see what I'm doing.
