Posted June 9, 200618 yr on the picture part of this forum i posted a picture of my two new birds the older male is in the breeder cage and i think he has mated with the female but my younger ones are in the regular cage and the male trys to step on the younger famale and there is no nest box why is this?
June 9, 200618 yr It can be either a dominance thing or a mating thing. If it gets too aggressive or the female gets stressed and cant cope, separate them. Some males get too carried away and can hurt the females. There doesnt have to be a nesting box for budgie bonking to take place, a nesting box just makes them want to do it for a reason.
June 9, 200618 yr Author oh thank you for the information but he tries and then starts kissing her and they get quiet and start to groom my two older couples are in a breeder cage do i still play with them when they are in there
June 9, 200618 yr How old are your younger ones ? Also with the two in the breeder cage just leave them to it.

June 9, 200618 yr idk excact but they jsut finished their first mold and they are getting those rings around their necks im thinking they are at least 8 months Too young for breeding at 8 months ...must be at least a year old. They will do the mating thing anyway. Don't be tempted to put them in a breeding cage just because they have budgie sex, and do not put a nesting box in or it will encourage them while they are too young. Are they related ?
