Budgie Breeding

Hello everyone! For a long time I've been thinking about it, but I decided that I think I want to get my bird Puffs to lay eggs. She has a mate and I know of all the cautions to keep in mind (egg binding, additonal calcium/protein in diet, what to do with the chicks, etc.). I'm really looking foward to little Puff babies and I'd want them to lay eggs only once. But the thing is...is she too old? I was never sure what age budgie females stop breeding/too risky to breed. I'd say she's about 6 now...I can't say for sure because I found this bird outside, but when I found her she looked quite young. Is 6 too old to breed an American budgie? Thanks for any input!

Well i was told not to breed my bird who I thought was five (work out she was only four later). Both by Hath in here and other breeders that I talked to.

So I think 6 is a bit much. Is there any way you could get another set and start with them?

Oh yeah, I have a couple of different pairs...it was just Puffs is my favorite bird (Laughing out loud)! Well right now I have a nest box hooked to the side of the cage hoping that they'd actually give interest and take a look. As of now, I don't think they have any idea what it is!! But thanks for the response! If its going to hurt her, then I don't think I'm going to risk it.
