Is This Normal Behavior?

okay, this is what happens, If Jasper is sitting by himself, Casper will go over to him and try to kinda like give him a kiss, Jasper will fly to the other end and Casper goes after him, then he will walk the cage back to the other end and she follows him, and she does this to him constantly. Is this normal for a female who is going into the breeding cycle?

I just noticed that Jasper is starting to chase Casper, can someone tell me what these 2 are doing please, I am starting to think these 2 are older then what I thought, Casper's cere is turning a darker brown, and Jasper's cere is turning a brighter pink. Someone explain what is going on with these 2.

sounds like they are just playing around :D my 2 boys play all the time like this :(.

They can go into breeding condition but it doesn't mean they are ready. So if her cere is turning brown is is at least over 6 months.

The bright pink cere of your male is normal and it doesn't turn a different color when he is in breeding condition.

Are these 2 sibling?

No they are not related, I just found out today from the pet store and from my husband that the lady at the pet store said that they were at the store for 2 months and when they got them they were 2 months old, and we bought them the first part of Oct last year. I also found the paper work on the dates they were brought into the store and Casper was dated Aug. 2, 2005 and Jaspers was Aug. 10, 2005 and the receipt when we bought them was dated Oct. 17, 2005. The pet store told me they will not take any animal under 8 weeks old. So they are both 1 year old this month. They came in from different breeders, 8 days apart.

This sounds like one of my girls, she is coming into breeding condition but she is only 6 months old but she is never having babies. There are 2 males she chases like this, and i don't see it being a problem cause they enjoy it. Anyway you could breed them if you wanted but if you want good pets I wouldn't put them in that situation so you don't risk losing them as there are many risks.

I hope they continue to entertain you and don't take it too far.

What you are describing sound like normal mating ritual stuff to me. It's the ...."I'm nervous and excited !!" dance happening. It's the preliminary to the real kissy, kissy stage where they love each other and preen each other. They get flighty and hop around each each other from perch to perch, swapping positions and showing off. Just first date nerves and exploring emotions and excitement. :D

I put the box in the cage last night and left the top open just to see what they would do, Casper is standing on the ledge of the box looking inside of it, then she will look back and Jasper, like "What is this thing?" (Laughing out loud), Should I check the box to see if there may be an egg in it or are they trying to figure it out, not sure, will keep you all updated if anything happens. Going to close the lid around noon time, my time.

Oh, One more question, this has nothing to do with the box, once the chicks have been weaned and are out on their own, when should the mom be moved to a seperate cage (minus dad of course) to recover from all the stress?
