Posted September 2, 200420 yr over a breeding season it appears most breeders who use artificial lighting their birds produce more cocks in this months budgerigar world it says if you use full spectrum lighting you produce more hens
September 2, 200420 yr I wonder why that is? Depending upon which lighting you use, hath, do you find that to be true?
September 2, 200420 yr hmm... i never even thought about that, but supposedly gecko eggs are hatched hotter=males... so i guess it could be true...
September 3, 200420 yr Author i must admit i was curious so i had a look at my records and i found that i do breed more **** birds over a season its about 60/40
October 2, 200420 yr I had regular bulbs in the bird's room when they had babies the first time and got 4 hens and 1 **** out of the first clutch, and 3 cocks and 1 hen out of the second. I have since changed one of the lamp bulbs to a full-spectrum bird bulb next to the cage (about two or three months ago). I'm curious now as to what the mix will be the next time?
