Budgie's Swollen Foot

Featured Replies

Posted

My poor little budgie feel onto a hot pot on the stove top (or actually into the pasta sauce!!!) and looks like he has burtn/hurt his foot. It is large and swollen ... he wont rest on it .. and it is warm to touch (this happened a week ago). He is eating well but saadly isn't talking or flying around like he use to. I am worried the foot will get infected ... though there is no bleeding or wound ... it is just twice the size it should be.

Can you recommend any thing to treat it with that might help until we can get him to a vet / bird specialist. Perhaps a solution of some sort to soothe it for him and get the swelling down.

Thank you ... :)

Get to the vet ASAP, do you have an ER vet anywhere? Burns are very serious and if it is the hot and swollen he needs medical attention ASAP. In the burn units at the hospital they advise to not put anything on a burn until seen. One thing that I know you can do is put natural pure honey on it, this is a natural soother, antiseptic and is non toxic to the bird.

Keep us updated.
