Posted June 5, 200619 yr Excellent article, I have seen new members or even old members wanting to wait it out, medicate with what they have this is an good article. If it needs to be moved (to moderators) feel free, I wasn't sure where to put it. http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww27eii.htm
June 7, 200619 yr that is a good article , l agree that if your bird shows any sign of sickness take it to an avian vet , it's better to be safe then sorry .
June 7, 200619 yr thats true, i was reading a post on another forum, and someone was telling them to give the bird some type of antibiotic, they didnt even know what the problem was. i replied that i didnt think it was a good idea to be giving out that info when the owner doesnt even know whats wrong!
June 7, 200619 yr I agree Lovey, an avian vet is the only one who truly knows what is going on and time is of the essence as birds can deteriorate so quickly.
April 27, 200718 yr With my veterinary experience and Budgerigar Club knowledge I treat my own birds for the really simple stuff ( worms, lice, mites etc ) . But more important issues we have a brilliant avian vet at close call. It's a pity the birds that got poisoned cannot be helped any more than they have been, as we wait to see what permanent damage has been caused to the toxins in their bodies. But I am in close touch with the vet on a daily basis.
April 27, 200718 yr Too true, just gotta be careful they are actually an avian vet! Some of the 'normal' vets around me know very little about birds!
