Posted June 5, 200619 yr So we went to have a look at the breeders place this afternoon. His budgies were absolutely beautiful. All healthy and clean and sooo loud. All of them were so different from Rejy so i guess i was right about her being lonely. We had a look at the budgies for sale, I couldnt resist the recessive pied grey mature hen and my Mum couldn't resist a six week old recessive pied green cock who was just out of the nest so we got both (Laughing out loud). Both look very frazzled from the car ride and the little cock can't stop yawning (Laughing out loud). Mum's refusing to let me take them out of their cage, sigh, I'm allowed to hand tame them and all that as long as they stay in their acge. I'm glad i've built them a huge cage. They are of course in quarantine now, but as they came from the same cage I've kept them together. The cock is just out of the nest and the hen is about 18 months old. I'm curious about the girl her wings are a different colour to the cocks does that make her a greywing? Both seem very confused but oh well, they should cheer up. I'm happy (Laughing out loud), i finally got Rej some friends. Emma
June 5, 200619 yr They're gorgeous Rejysmum! That little boy is such a cutie-pie! The hen is beautiful too. I think that browny colour on her wings makes her a cinnamon rather than a grey-wing. That could just be my monitor though, (Laughing out loud). You should do a 'what am I?' in the genetics and mutations section and see what the experts say.
June 5, 200619 yr Yeah it is a brown colour. The lil boy is such a crack up, he's only just out of the nest and can't climb yet. So he's been walking around the bottom of the cage chirping to himself, and then when I covered the cage he flopped down like a penguin and went to sleep lying down. He wont stay asleep though (Laughing out loud) he keeps getting back up after 10-15 minutes chirps a bit more much to the hens annoyance then going back to sleep. Me and mum stil;l cant think of names for them (Laughing out loud). Emma
June 5, 200619 yr I'm sure Kirby will think of some names for you when he sees this. He's the chief namer for this forum I think.
June 5, 200619 yr They are sweet! Yes, the hen is a cinammon. I have a male recessive pied that is cinammon. My first thought for names was Salty and Pepper. I'm not great at picking names though. Kirby will definately help you.
June 5, 200619 yr Shawna I like that idea, that is how one of my shelter cats was named. She was Pepper and her sister was Salt :redalbino:. Salt for the white one and Pepper for the yellow one. Gorgeous babies.
June 5, 200619 yr HAHAHAHHA GUYS!!! Well, your riiiight! HEre i go...again :redalbino: for 3rd time in 30 hour! (Laughing out loud), Male: Annex, Milo, Mickey, Balla, Pello, Pilo, Peeko, Chico, Oscar, Kirby, Thango, Mango, Paypaya, Jingles, Rudy, Jacob, Lokie, Max, Buddy, Omigo, Charlie, Moose, Cosmo, Quintin, Hank, Pebble, Peach, Beach, Corona, Malcom, Harvey, Daffy, Willy, Studly, Junoir, Archie, Robin, Nickolous, Saint, Halo, Beaux, Disney, Simba, Cujo, Toaster, Binky, Slinky, Nevel, Moses, Merlin, Quincy, Rocket, Diego, Jason, Chase, James, Tweety, Marlin, Nemo, Bubbles, Yolkie like egg yolk, Azul means ocean, Lexie, Luther or Ben? Sorry, theres not much choice, and they arent the best names ive suggested Ill try to make up some more... As for the hen, what about Belle, Ariel, Tango, Cherry, Mika, Jazzy, Jazzie, Angel, Tango, Mango, Corona, Maddie, Hansel, Grettle, Peach, Silver, Star, Sling, Micha, Mesha, Pebbles, Tweeter, Tweety, Misty, Emma, Maggie, Meggie, Mini, Bubbles, Lexie, Coral, Dori, Mello, Kitty, Lucy, Sarah, Nike, Nellie, Cameo, Harmine, Simone, Harmony, Haven, Claire, Hannah, Stella, Annie, Callie, Amber, Nala, Jetta, Sam, Daffney, Petal, Daisy, Pansy, Tulip, Daffodil, Emerald, Charlie, Puddle, Swift, Lilly, Laila, Jesse, Pippin, Pepe, or Piper? Thats bad list as well SORRY! Also, i think the males a dominant pied! Im not 100% sure, but look at his wing markings, and how he has the 'bald' or clear patch beghind neck Also, his front markings resmeble a dominant pied more than a recessive, and his beak is orange, unlike recessive pied birds such as the female who have a more 'see through' one...( The beak rule only applies in some cases) . . . Kirby
June 5, 200619 yr I agree with you on that Kirby for the yellow pied, there is also green coloring above the tummy around the neck which is another "sometimes" indicator. How do you think of all these names :nest:
June 6, 200619 yr (Laughing out loud) thanks for the names. We ended up choosing Ravi for the boy, Ravi means Sun in Saskrit and was also the name of our fave driver whne we spent three weeks in India. The girl got the name Dove as she is such a sweet petite thing. Hmmm the guy old me he was recessive, he looks it to me, he almost no green on him at all and my other budge is a dominant and she has way more colour then he does, (Laughing out loud) oh well what would I know. Emma
June 6, 200619 yr They just come to my mind! I love being creative (Laughing out loud) Doves nice, same with Ravi. Nope, hes a dominant ! ! ! Also, note how recessive pied males have whiteish, pink ceres when small! Hes got bright pink! Yet another characteristic of diminant pied(s)!!! Kirby
June 6, 200619 yr Oky doky thanks for that. Hehe Ravi is so funny. H must be a very young bubba but its hilarious to watch him. This morning he climbed up the edge of a food bowl and started munching away, then Dove flew over and he fell in from the surprise. So then Ravis sitting in this container and Dove is trying to figure how's she sposed to eat (Laughing out loud). He's still working on climbing but he got up to one of the top perches yesterday, oh and i accidently knocked down a perch when i as refilling the water bowl and Ravi's sitting on it as proud as peach that he's sitting on a perch (Laughing out loud). Hehe Rejy never did stuff like this i guess she was a lonley budgie. She can hear these guys chirping and evertime they do she chirps back as loud as she can Emma
