Posted June 3, 200619 yr i have a budgie about 4 months old it has a lump on its back it is uneven and has been growing for about 3 weeks..could it be a sist..what can i do..i am on a pension and really cant afford a vet..please help.
June 3, 200619 yr hiya i don't really think you can do anything but take him to the vet. do you have a society or something like the PDSA that can help you with the vets bills?
June 3, 200619 yr would a vet be able to save it.i had one bird 2 years ago and it had the same thing.and died 4 weeks later. also it is a large lump the feathers are sticking up as well.and thank you for your reply.
June 3, 200619 yr we can't determine what the lump is and we can't tell you if the avian vet can save it but I suggest you make an appointment. Make sure you go to an avian specialist not just a regular dog/cat vet. Keep us update.

June 3, 200619 yr a tumor in the front in the tummy area are found to be common in budgies before the age of 5 but on the back no that is not common that I am aware of.

June 4, 200619 yr I hope your little one will be okay. i also have a little white budgie and it has never been able to fly..do you know if this can be fixed..i love all birds and animals.and i spoil them rotten..but its a shame she cant fly..
June 4, 200619 yr I would take them both to the vet one to find out about the lump and one about why your white one can't fly to rule out any diseases. Keep us updated
June 5, 200619 yr dear shawna i just got back from the aviarian doctor..the bird had a infection.so she squeezed the lump cleaned it out and she has given me some medicine and also she told me to wash it daily with salt water..thank you for your interest also..the white bird has never flown and the aviarian said there is nothing i can do..the way i look at it is it has a good home and plenty of friends one of the other birds is its best friend.hes a male a english type..
June 5, 200619 yr Did you have the white male from very young? Was he clipped when you got him? I was thinking maybe he was taken out of the nest and clipped too young, before he learned to fly.
