Hi everyone!!

 

I've had Cutie for three weeks tomorrow and now she's (I say she, although I think she may be a he!) a very lively and talkative bird and is eating & drinking well. I'm wondering if it'd be safe to put Polo and Cutie together now? How long do you usually quarantine new budgies for? And how do I go about introducing her to Polo? I want to do this right as I, obviously, want them to get along and live very happy lives together.

Finish out your quarantine for 30 days first, you are almost there yes?

 

I am sure everyone does it different.

 

I intro by putting them outside of the cage on my finger personally. And I put their cages side by side for a couple days before I kept them in together but far enough where they could not reach each others toes or beaks.

 

In the beginning there was the angry dolphin from Merlin because Pretty was so excited and though he was a girl but things have calmed down. Now I keep them together during the day but at night still separate because Pretty has a tendency to still think Merlin is a girl and Merlin doesn't like it.

 

Plus it gives me time in the morning to spend time with Merlin with out Pretty's distraction.

 

I am not sure how tame you want to keep them but everyday work with them together because what I find is that 1 will hide behind the other and it is usually the newer bird.
