Posted May 30, 200618 yr I have 5 potential mates for my beutiful Bella and I'm wondering what the possible outcomes would be. Bella is a sky blue recessive pied opaline greywing spangle. My males are 1. a yellowface II (possibly goldenface) dilute 2. a cinnamon violet recessive pied (might be opaline too) 3. a cobalt yellowface recessive pied 4. a goldenface 5. a mauve yellowface dominant pied. Thoughts anyone? My dream budgie is a yellowface II spangle so I'm hoping that one of these with her could produce it.
May 30, 200618 yr My dream budgie is a yellowface II spangle I think your best bet would be #4 if you want a straightforward yellowface (or goldenface perhaps?) spangle without the interference of recessive or dominant pied.. or the dilute/greywing genes. Bella is a sky blue recessive pied opaline greywing spangle. My males are 1. a yellowface II (possibly goldenface) dilute All the babies would be greywing or possibly dilute (if she's a full body color greywing then all greywings or clearwings) Either 1/2 yellowfaces or all yellowfaces depending of whether male is single or double factor. Half of the babies would be spangles.. but they would have faint markings (greywing or dilute) . All split for recessive pied.. males split for opaline. 2. a cinnamon violet recessive pied (might be opaline too) This male you would get all recessive pieds.. half of them would have spangle markings (like Mom) -- females would be cinnamon.. all babies split for greywing. Some may get a violet gene from dad. If he is opaline.. then all the babies would be opaline. If not then males will be split for it. 3. a cobalt yellowface recessive pied Again all recessive pieds.. half may also be spangles (recessive pied spangles) -- Depending on the yellowface -- half or all of the babies could be yellowfaces. Cobalts and sky blues. All split for greywing. Males split for opaline. 4. a goldenface Possible 50% spangles 50% normals.. Half of babies would be goldenface if dad is SF.. all would have goldenface if dad is DF. All split for recessive pied and greywing. Males split for opaline 5. a mauve yellowface dominant pied Possibly Spangles, Dominant pied spangles, Dominant pieds, and normals.. All should be cobalt.. and half or all will have yellowfaces depending on whether dad is double or single factor. All split for recessive pied and greywing. males split for opaline
May 30, 200618 yr Author I'm so excited! Lots of awesome combinations. I'm sure I would be happy with any of those outcomes, especially the spangles and recessive pieds. I can't wait until they are old enough.
