Fresh Air

Hi:

Sorry if this is the wrong location for this question, but I wasn't sure what section it would belong. It is currently about 28 degrees Celsius in my house (we are having a warm spell here in Ontario, Canada and it is too soon to put the central air on as it is supposed to cool again by Thursday). Anyway, what my question would be is how much of a breeze can a budgie handle?? I have my office window open and there is a little bit of a breeze coming in but Casper's cage is in my office. I have pulled one side of his cage cover down on the side of the cage where the breeze comes in and wondered if he should be okay for the day (being sure to close the window at night). I had him outside with us sitting in the shade all weekend, but where he was located there wasn't much of a breeze. I just don't want my little guy getting sick. My hubby thinks I am too paranoid because as he states birds outside are in the breeze all the time, but I am a first-time bird owner, so needless to say I want to do right by him/her (gender of birdie still up for question).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Terri

as long as the breeze isnt to chilly i think he should be find. just dont let it get too cold where he is. Birds seem to be really noticableof temperature changes. if youre worried about him cooking in your office you can always make sure he has a bath available to cool down and bathe in, if hes too hot he will find ways to cool down. just dont let the temp get too high/hot and stuffy. maybe set up a small fan in that room to keep the air moving.

:) At 28 degrees I don't think a little bit of a breeze will hurt him much (we had a really hot spell here to 30 the week before last and I hauled all the cages onto the patio for a couple of hours and everybody had a blast). Just be sure he isn't in the direct sunlight (although sun is good) and when the temp seems to be dropping quickly, put him back in. Hope he enjoys his outdoor experience, mine always do! ;)

(And it is so nice to see people really concerned and involved with their budgies!)

:D our back porch/deck/patio thinger got to about 42 that week! we were cooking inside the house and outside!! :hap:

if its hot like that and its not a Heat wave frying breeze it should be great for the bird, and the people :P
