Why Is She Doing This?

My budgie, Ricky, is pecking at the side of the cage. She started doing it a little while ago. She pecks near the bottom of the cage, near her food, and its like shes trying to pick up one of the bars of the cage. i know shes not trying to get out because when we open the cage door she flies back into 'her corner'. mum thinks she might be trying to build a nest??? maybe shes just crazy (Laughing out loud). i don't know. does anyone know what she might be doing? :)

I have a female(name also Ricki) that likes to pull on things and pick things up and throw them, she has knocked down a couple of pirches and she throws around brocholli, she is just playing a game, like a new toy- i have balls with bells and she loves those. She won't do it unless something happens. I also have a Male that tries to feed the pirches...and everything else including all of the other birds, somtimes it looks like he is hitting his beak, possibly hurting himself but most of the time its just noise.

She sounds normal, but if she is hurting herself you need to do something.

Hope this helps

my little Lemon just absolutely love 'plucking' the bar on the side of the cage. she does it I t hink is because she likes the sounds it's making... it's quite cute to watch her entertain herself like that. Although i have to say that she doesn't have a 'favourite' corner. she just does in particular area of the cage that makes the most noise!!!

Merlin and he is not a female loves to do the same thing. Give her toys that have shiny things on it like bells you will probably notice she loves them.

okay, so there isn't anything to worry about. good :bluebudgie: . i was getting worried for a second there. we have given her toys, and she does play with them, but maybe we should giv her more. its also annoying when she plucks at the cage, because of the noise, (Laughing out loud)

thanks for your help :ausb:

checking out that cere I would say you have a boy not a girl :bluebudgie:
