Posted May 21, 200618 yr First post, be gentle. I have recently aquired my first bird of any kind, a common blue budgie at roughly seven weeks of age. I am curious to whether playing budgie sound effects, ie them chirping to the budgie is encouraged or not. I'm getting it used to human voices, with radio and such, and I would like to know if other budgie sounds would improve its moral/wellbeing or if it will hinder the taming process. Kind regards, Rob
May 21, 200618 yr budgies sounds would not improved it moral well being because they are looking for a bird they can't find and it is very frustrating. Think if you were playing hide and seek and that person kept calling your name over and over and you never could find them. Drive you nuts. Being brand new to budgies when I first got Pretty I did play a couple budgie sounds too him and it drive him crazy. He was flying looking for the this bird that did not exist, and he kept flying away from me. So if you want him to bond with you, you want him to bond with your voice being it whistling or talking. . I hope that helps.
May 21, 200618 yr Twitter is not a 'common blue budgie' he is a gorgeous opaline!! I found Bobby responded really positively to my voice, and I agree with Lovey - when he heres other budgie sounds he searches for them. Just keep talking to him and he will respond to your voice! December 19, 200816 yr You can google for budgie sounds, I know of a website that has them personally, or you can even play budgie video's on U Tube.
