Why Would He Do This

okay can someone please explain what Bluey is doing to his Mrs (Rainbow)

She is on eggs, 4 hatched so far. Since the first one was hatched Rainbow has a very wet spot on the back of her head, the area gets bigger with each new baby hatched. At first glance it looks like she had been plucked, but on closer examination, it is just really wet and the feathers are plastered down all around it, so she looks bald. No blood, no missing feathers.

When we try to 'perve" on them in the box, they just look up as if to say, 'we're not doing anything".

Today, I wiped her head dry and put some cornflour on it, in the hope it would stop whatever it is he is doing.

This happened last time they had babies too.

Any Ideas?????

Is he feeding her the wrong way round? or is he getting excited (Uhmmm I hope you know what I mean by that)

:( Excited...

I have no idea what he could be doing. Could be feeding her the wrong way around....i guess that makes the most sense but why would he do that?

Poor mom (Laughing out loud) that is alot of spit - he isn't trying to pluck her or anything? I would just say as long as there is no bickering there is no harm and he is just that way.

Doesn't look like food. Could he perhaps want to feed the babies and her fat head is in the way?

:(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): I thought the same thing, and actually she has got a fat head :(Laughing out loud):

The feathers around that area are quite hard and sticky, so maybe you are right.

And there is no bickering at all, he is very devoted to her.

Is there bits of seed in that "hard and sticky" spot ??? If not, could be something else. :budgiedance:

No budgiebird, it is actually clean, just yucky, and sticky

I have wiped her head 3 times today but you would not know it. It still looks like the picture
