Posted May 12, 200619 yr I am looking into feeding my birds a healthier, organic natural diet, that incorporates seeds, pellets and fresh fruit and veg. I have been looking everywhere for a good quality brand of pellets, and cannot find them anywhere. One petshop that I went to said they don't sell pellets because the birds wont eat them :ausb: This is the pet shop that Bobby came from. I was just doing a little bit of research and discovered a brand called Harrisons, that are organic and seem to be of a good quality. The problem is they are only available in Canberra (good news for you Bea!) and apart from sending Bea some money every month to get her to send me some there must be a better way. I want to know two things - firstly, does anyone use and recommend this product, or have any suggestions for a better product, that I might be able to get in Aus AND I was thinking of maybe becoming a distributor for this product in Australia (Vic) would anyone know how I could start that.... Thanks for your help! Oh currently I feed my birds a mixture of egg & biscuit, seeds and crumbles, plus fresh fruit and veg. Is this a sufficient diet??? Edited May 12, 200619 yr by Riebie
May 12, 200619 yr i have no idea about how you can get harrisons but i and all of my birds and the dogs that get the crumbs LOVE harrisons, mine do prefer it to zupreme and roudybrush(sp), i've heard that it does have excess salts though so that may be something to consider, if you can get your hands on it go for it, but read the warnings and stuff, for sure no additional supplements. just fresh stuff and seed.
May 12, 200619 yr I feed my birds Harrisons and they seem to really like it. Of course, they also get an organic seed mix (from newsong organics) as well as organic veggies (with an occasional fruit treat) daily. I think it's a great idea to feed organic as it can ease your mind as far as icky pesticides and chemicals go. Roudybush is also a good pellet but isn't organic. I'm not sure if you get this brand but TOP (totally organic pellets) is also a great organic brand. Ordering online is often the only option for people though many vet clinics stock Harrisons so you may want to call around to find out.
May 12, 200619 yr Author I haven't looked at the veterinary clinics yet... hmmm. The only pellets I could find were full of artificial colours and I wasn't happy with that, plus Bobby wouldn't touch them.
May 15, 200618 yr Hey Riebie, I enquired about those Harrison. They do ship to other parts of Australia. I've got an email from them before, but I'm not sure if I still have the address for you. Will have to check at work tomorrow. Harrison is fairly dear here in Australia, I think last time I checked it was $45AUD?? plus postage and handling.. it was just way beyond my price range for bird food. Although it'd be nice though if I could give it to them. May be when I win Lotto or something!! (Laughing out loud)
