Posted May 10, 200619 yr Here is my third pair of budgies. She is an cinnamon olive and he is a dark green recessive pied. (Which should come first in their description, the color or the mutation?) What color babes/mutations should I expect from these two. Apple Apple and Sonny (He was being all lovey to her) Sonny Apple
May 10, 200619 yr Sorry for my ignorance but is she really a cinnamon? im new to this but where is the cinnamon on her? jason
May 10, 200619 yr Her back and wing markings are a brownish color rather than black, that is what makes her a cinnamon.
May 10, 200619 yr I understand what cinamon means but i dont see it , it must be the flash on the camera. but it looks black to me sorry jason
May 10, 200619 yr (Laughing out loud) From the way you worded it, seemed to me that you didn't know what the cinnamon was. No worries. On my monitor it looks right. Maybe I can get a better picture on here. Edited May 10, 200619 yr by missdawne
May 10, 200619 yr do you see what i mean here there is a big difference? im just confused now (Laughing out loud) jason
May 10, 200619 yr I think because she also has a dark factor that her cinnamon coloring is not as light as it would be on a bird with no dark factor. Look at her next to my other hen who has black markings.
May 10, 200619 yr here is a piccy of my normal green is there a difference to your baby i hope you dont think looking for an arguement im just trying to learn and find the different cimamons etc jason
May 10, 200619 yr (Laughing out loud) No problem. I didn't think you were trying to pick a fight with me. (Laughing out loud) On my monitor my gals back and wings are still lighter, although not a lot lighter than the bird in your last picture. I do know that compared to my other birds here that her back and wing markings are no where near black.
May 10, 200619 yr I give up (Laughing out loud) the colour bit is really confusing me now if you look at the last post i posted in mutations the new birds i got today are confusing aswell, maybe you could give me your views(grey or mauve and what colour is the other? thanks jason
May 10, 200619 yr (Laughing out loud) No problem. I will stab at it, but if I am wrong you can't yell at me. (Laughing out loud) As far as the color thing, yeah it is confusing. Their are so many color varities and mutations out there if a bird has more than one their name could end up being a mile long! (Laughing out loud) One of the other members posted this link on here for color. I bookmarked it because it is a handy tool to have around for sure! http://wbo.bestofbreeds.net/budgerigarcolourguide.htm
May 10, 200619 yr Thanks i use that one too but the greeny/blue budgie falls between colours typical!! jason the top part of the chest is green and the bottom is blue link to topic Edited May 11, 200619 yr by jeljb
May 11, 200619 yr My cinnamon geen budgies look different to your too so I too, was surprised to find yours described as a cinnamon green
May 11, 200619 yr http://www.mangoverde.com/birdsound/picpag...ic74-102-2.html Check out the link above and then open this one http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/mis...le/22138997.jpg Compare the two picutes and then you will see that she really it lighter and more brownish than a normal green.
May 11, 200619 yr You will get all normal greens unless any are split for blue (blue is recessive so that is masked you won't know until you see the babies) Her boys will be split to cinnamon. Also you will may get recessive pieds greens ONLY if the female is also carrying the recessive pied gene. Other then that they will probably be all normals but the hidden genes if they have them may come out.
May 11, 200619 yr Like opening presents, you don't know what you will have untill you have them. (Laughing out loud) Thanks lovey, It will be so much nicer to breed these guys babies (all three pair are totally unrelated so there kids can be paired up) and then I will have an idea of what they are split to! (Laughing out loud)
