Melamine Breeding Cages: Where To Get The Steel Trays?
Hi all I am currently building some breeding cabinets from melamine and am planning on using the wire cage fronts and ply as dividers. What I want to know is what steel do I use for the tray down the bottom? Is it expensive and where would I get it at 450mm wide with the lip on the end? thanks steve

How Many Per Aviary?
Hi there I am planning on dedicating a small flight to budgies for the purpose of breeding some extra colour and size into my lutinos. How many pairs do you believe I can house/breed in a small flight 1000 wide by 1750 deep by 1800 high? I was thinking 2 maybe 3 at the max but some of my mates believe more. I think more than 3 would be crowded but others on this forum may know better. Thanks Steve

How Many Budgies
They can live in that cage but I always think of the mess they would make followed by the possibility of sickness. Some bird breeders jam em in until the door wont shut. They will be happier and healthier as just one pair and more productive than if there were 2 pair in the cage. Good luck with the shed conversion. When I was living in a unit I was counting the days down until we moved into our own home and had our own aviaries. I had birds in cages everywhere prior to moving.

Sure do. I use the same user name for all forums I am a member. With my lone spare aviary I am trying to get into breeding some decent budgies. Something I have always wanted to get into and my son likes the idea which is always a bonus.

New To This Forum And To Show Budgie Breeding
Hi all I used to colony breed budgies in a large aviary with superb parrots and bourkes when I was 15 to 20. I had to give it away due to university and work and then I moved into a unit which nearly drove me mad. At the ripe old age pf 31 I have finally moved into my own house and have my beloved aviaries set up. I have been keeping finches (mainly gouldians) for the last few years and have recently dabbled with hookbills again. I now have one pair of normal lineolated parrots, a pair of princess parrots (lutino/blue hen with a blue/yellow cock), black eyed self something or other (budgies, a pair of lutinos, and I was donated a pair of bush budgies today at a bird sale. I am looking to gain better knowledge of the genetics required to breed good colour and posture. I like lutinos for some reason and would like to start with them. Well....that's my intro done. thanks! Steve
