Budgie Sitting With Wings Slightly Out?
He doesn't bob his tail and it doesn't seem to matter if i'm around and seen or not as i have raised him since a baby. Could it be a temperature control issue that he has? Regards, Jaff

Budgie Sitting With Wings Slightly Out?
He hasn't got a bath as it's been getting warm in SA so we have had the air con on. That's what I originally thought was wrong, but he does it no matter the temperature. Regards, Jaff

Budgie Sitting With Wings Slightly Out?
Hi all, My 6 week old budgie always seems to sit with his wings just slightly out. When i have him out and he has a good fly around he looks like he is panting and has his wings out again. His sister from the same clutch has had to problems and i am starting to get worried about him. I am trying to hold off the vet unless I really need to as of money problems, so can anyone suggest anything? Thanks in advance. Regards, Jaff

Would This Cage Get Enough Air Circulation?
Thank you all for the replies. I wanted them for full time cages so i have been looking at bigger cages. What do you think of this one?- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Portable-Bird-Cage-Carrier-90cm-x-76cm-x-46cm-/380689152816?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item58a2d77b30&_uhb=1 Its slightly bigger and has much better bar spacing. Would This Cage Get Enough Air Circulation?
It will be used as a breeding cage so will only have 2 birds in it. I am probably leaning towards the second option. Would it be suitable for a permanent cage? Regards, Jaff

Would This Cage Get Enough Air Circulation?
Hi all, I am looking to upgrade two of my budgie cages and found this one- http://www.ebay.com....987af78a&_uhb=1 I was wondering if they would get enough air circulation. They would be inside and are moved depending on weather. I really like the looks of it and am hoping its all good. I have also got this one in my sights and was wondering if it was all good or are both just a waste of money- http://www.ebay.com....7375dea0&_uhb=1 Thanks in advance. Regards, Jaff

New Egg With Older Babies Still In Nest?
UPDATE- I ended up having to move them both into a cage as mum was starting to attack them. They are both able to crack seed which is great. They are hiding at the bottom of the cage so i put some seed down there for them. Regards, Jaff

New Egg With Older Babies Still In Nest?
UPDATE- I tried them down the bottom again and he younger one has made it up the cage a little, but doesn't seem to be asking for food like the older one. The older one asks for food every time mum or dad is around, but the younger one doesn't seem to. Regards, Jaff

New Egg With Older Babies Still In Nest?
Hi Robyn, The eldest was able to fly a little bit, not very well though. The eldest ended up going into the nest box last night so i put the little one in as well. The parents seemed fine with it. Should i try with them down the bottom again? Regards, Jaff

New Egg With Older Babies Still In Nest?
Are either of these options alright for the two little ones? I had to put the towels up as my cats were a little intrigued :/ http://i43.tinypic.com/2e66a0m.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/27xqqs5.jpg The babies are hiding in the little cave, but the parents haven't gone down yet which makes me a little worried. I have food and water down there for them, and the younger one was starting to eat well off my finger, but im still worried. Regards, Jaff Update- The eldest chick is up the top with her parents now, but the younger one is still down the bottom alone and i still haven't seen either parent stay down there. The cock went down to check it all out, but came straight back up. Izzy ( the eldest chick) is sitting up top alright and could even fly a little bit But i am still worried about the younger one not getting fed. He has millet, seed, egg and biscuit moistened with water and water down there. Regards, Jaff

New Egg With Older Babies Still In Nest?
Thanks for all the advice. I will try and give them some egg and biscuit mix like you paulie and see how they take to it, I might also set up something on the bottom of the cage as the oldest is already trying to either get out or look at the world. Thanks again. Regards, Jaff

New Egg With Older Babies Still In Nest?
I have a fairly high cage (99cm) but have seen him go down sometimes. Until recently the hen was feeding them nearly all of the time ( after she was fed by cock) so am not sure what to do. They are looking to get out and are testing the surroundings, so should i put them down the bottom and see how they go?

New Egg With Older Babies Still In Nest?
Hi all, Well today when i got my two babies out to play (29 and 27 days) there was a new egg in the box. They don't have any missing feathers and seem to be getting fed, but am still worried the mum could turn on them. Should i get the babies out before she gets the chance or should i just wait and see how she goes. Thanks in advance. Regards, Jaff

Should I Remove Baby From Nest?
Hi Robyn, 2 older ones are going well. I don't think they have splayed legs after all. I got them out and had them on a towel and they seemed to walk fine ( apart from the stray nail getting stuck ) They were able to grip onto my finger as they would a perch, and were able to move around and sit with their legs under them. It was either a false alarm, or putting the wood shavings in again helped? Thanks for all of the help in all of this, will leave the last egg in until its past its max hatch date just to be sure. Thanks again. Regards, Jaff

Should I Remove Baby From Nest?
Hi Robyn, thanks for the reply. I got them from pet stores so have no idea if they bread before i bread them. The first clutch, 2 hatched but both died at about 2 days old and none of the other eggs hatched. The older 2 from this clutch are being fed and looked after wonderfully, they are 17 and 15 days old now. I think the first clutch babies may have died from yellow belly as their belly's looked yellow, but am not 100% sure. Parents are on a good seed diet and have regular vegies daily. Regards, Jaff

Splayed Legs....?
I had trouble with the pipe cleaner method as baby was very active Both babies now have splayed legs i suspect from not enough nesting material as mum kicked it nearly all out at the begging and i never thought to put more in Will now know for next time. Regards, Jaff

Should I Remove Baby From Nest?
Hi all, sorry for another topic. I had 2 healthy ( apart from splayed legs on one) chicks and another hatched. That one had died for unknown reasons (was fed). Today i found another chick has hatched. It hasn't been fed yet, but the hen normally feeds them within 4 hours. The problem is, the hen isn't staying in the nest anywhere near as much. She pops in every now and then to feed, but then comes straight out. I am worried about the little one after loosing one yesterday. Should i remove chick from nest and try to raise myself? ( i have set up homemade brooder and hand rearing formula) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jaff

Splayed Legs....?
The make up sponge doesn't seem to want to stay on. I have tried to redo it twice but it still ends up coming off one leg. I will try the pipe cleaner method as soon as i buy some. Any suggestions would be great Regards, Jaff
