Im having reasonable success with hatching but it does vary and i do seem to lose the odd pinky with these birds but with some hens they consistently produce 8 young. id be very keen to swap pure with pure stock with you. and i agree they are a great bird!

it is illegal to take from the wild but if you persiste you can find stock only a generation or 2 from wild . South Aust Museum had some for a while and they then offloaded them to breeders so i have some from these guys . another guy i got a pair off last week is a pig hunter and came across a nest and pilfered it i think . i aquired the young from this aquisition . I have bought bush budgies with different mutations like blue and dark factor as well as yf type 2 and rec pied. All these are really recent mutations and this breeder was not the only one to have them pop up. The recessive pied for example is not a strong line yet and i have not been able to breen from these birds yet. i keep these mutated birds seperate from my pure stock.

Hi good news and bad today. I picked up a pair of bushies today that came from a wild parent,s a great find and im hoping they will settle in easily. Bad news is that when i got home I found i had lost 2 birds. One hen totally missing and eggs cold and a male also missing ???? After looking i finaly found a smallish diamond python in an unused nest box with 2 lumps in him i guess i found my birds. So snake has been relocated . It was a beautiful snake i might add. I roll shade cloth down half the wire to stop the goshawks where i am. i have had probs with them too.

Hi, i have been breeding "bush Budgies" as well . Ive sourced my stock from a few places and this included aquiring some mutations . Like Type 2 yellowface, dark factor, and white face(blue), i have since bred recessive pied both yellow and white but the birds of this gene outcome see a bit weaker and i have not bred from these burds yet tho some are now ready and are chomping at the bit (so to speak). Ive also got a segregated aviary for non gene polluted bushies i got from South Australia. I have built up quite a flock and have kept some of the mutations to "Play with" even tho i really am just focussed on the pure wild type. i have a bee a bit obsessed with aquiring pure stock and am keen network with others to maintain thispure wild form.
