Can U Help Me With The New Hen's Coloration?
thanks guys Now I understand it much better ^^. So if the gene is rececive it will be always shown on a blue female? lets say hypoteticly we taking a pair like this - normal green male and normal blue female and one of the chicks is blue with a yellow face - is it safe to asume that it is certanly female and the father of this bird carries the yellow face gen?

Can U Help Me With The New Hen's Coloration?
Hello there! Got new hen and I wonder what is her mutation from the looks. Both the hen and the cock green color but when the cock is yellow face type two normal green (for my opinion hehe at least) the hen have very ligh green coloration and defently not normal. From what I read here about the genetics - she simms to me opaline greywing but I am really unsure. I must admit that I am not planing any line breeding and I do not mind what color the chicks will be but still I am curios to know her genetics. Here is the photo - the colors are not as good as in rl but still you can see her on the right side here. What you think?

Bad News
Hello all. Thank you for your answeres, but I have a sad news. I wanted to check on the hen today and I found her dead in the box. I went right away to a familiar breeder - he said that it is probably becouse she did not managed to lay another egg. I was familiar with this and she was just fine at the evening no signs at all. I did candeled the eggs - one looks good the other empty. I took a hen from that breeder, one that raised chicks before - he told me to try to put her there, perhaps she will sit on the eggs. I do not think it will help becouse she was inside the box but went out and not in there for a hour allready. I am planing to keep her with the male. I wanted to ask though if I should remove the eggs now? Is it okay to put a new hen with the male that just lost the first one for they to breed? I am a cockatiel breeder but do not know many things about budgies. Thanks again.

First Time Breeding
Hello there. I have a pair of budgies, both are 1 year old and never bred before. I put a breeding box long time ago and since few days the female is inside most of the time. When she left the box I checked it and there is two eggs in there one much bigger then the other. Since she is at it about a week I belive there will be no more eggs. Now I have few qustions: 1. I read that usually they lay 5 eggs or even more. Is it normal for her to lay just two? 2. I never noticed them actually mating though I always saw the male feeding the female and her nudging him to do so. Could it possible that the eggs infertile? Is there a way to know that? Thanks!
