A Boy?
Hello, I introduced myself on the forum a couple of weeks ago and said I was looking for a tame male budgie. Well I think I may have found one. The breeder that is helping me has sent me these pictures and I was hoping that you guys might be able to confirm gender for me. Also if anyone could tell me his/her genetics that would be much appreciated as well. I am so excited, feels like I've been waiting forever! I hope the pictures worked okay.

Hello, New And Looking For A Budgie!
Hey guys, I have found a breeder (via trading post) that will have some tame baby budgies for me to choose from towards the end of Feb. He will be some sending me some photos, which I will be sure to share with you all. It's going to be a long month waiting, looks like I've got a bit of shopping to do before hand though

Found Injured Eclectus Parrot
Hi guys, I recently signed up to this forum a couple of days ago, and it was good timing that I did. This evening I was in the CBD area of Melbourne with a couple of friends, and we found an eclectus parrot in the middle of a laneway. It was looking pretty sad and many of the commuters passing by on their way to the train station were just walking past it and taking photos on their iphones... argh. I picked it up with a tea towel and put it in a box (both of which I borrowed from a nearby shop). I have absolutely no experience in dealing with large birds and I thought the tea towel was necessary as I did not really want to freak the bird out or get bitten by that huge beak. We offered it some water (which it drank), it's wings were both clipped, and I assume that it had fell out of a window of one the city apartment complexes. I tried to get through to the rspca emergency line twice but got no response. I left my details with the buildings security, and my friends and I took the bird to the nearest 24 hour vet, (I do not think it was an avian vet, but I was unsure of what else to do). As I do not drive I had to take the poor thing in a taxi, and apart from a few squarks, he was pretty well behaved . I was able to get a bit of a close look at it, and I think (I am no expert) that the bottom part of it's beak had been smashed or broken, as it would not close properly, and was making funny clicking and grinding noises. There was also some blood around the beak area, and the feet did not seem to be moving properly or pointing in the right direction... At the vets I had to sign him (who we temporarily christened Fred) over. I plan to give them a call in the upcoming days to see how he is, I have also posted an ad on gumtree in case the owner is looking. Anything I could have done differently? Anything I should still do? I hope he will be okay, he seems to have a fighting spirit

Hello, New And Looking For A Budgie!
Okay thank you, I will have a look around and maybe make a post there. Geelong might be a bit too far for me, I'm a bit of a slacker and haven't got around to getting my licence yet... so I will have to bribe a friend to drive me.

Hello, New And Looking For A Budgie!
Hi thanks for the welcome! Yeah I thought some of the ads on gumtree looked a bit dodgy... :/ definitely a last resort.

Hello, New And Looking For A Budgie!
Hi all, I've been trawling through these forums for well over a month now, and I've finally decided to sign up to become a member. I have been looking into getting a pet budgie for a while now, but I wanted to take the time to make sure I had done all of my research; (I feel now I'm well versed in cage size, quarantine, diet, natural perches, no sandpaper, tassels or mirror etc...) My family have owned pet budgies before when I was a bit younger, and now that I've moved out of my family home, I think I'm ready to get another feathered friend. I'm hoping that there's someone here who can help me out in finding a budgie, I'm after a young male, hand tamed or not, (I plan on having a tame budgie) that would be available some time mid to late february. Not particularly fussed on colour, as long as he's happy and healthy, but I'm a sucker for blue or bright yellow. Also, I am located in Melbourne. I have done a bit of searching on gumtree, but would prefer to deal with someone knowledgeable. Thanks for reading, glad to be here Such an informative site.
