    Aviary Floor

    Hi all.. finally after 6 months of negotiation my wife has let me get some budgies!...this was a big step as she has a terrible bird phobia. My aviary is approx 700wide 500 deep and1500high. I have 2 pairs of budgies. The bottom of the aviary is off the ground with a slide out bottom shelf for cleaning. My question.... could I use gum tree litter.. eg bark, twigs, leaves on the floor of my aviary (any possible health issues?). Most aviaries I have seen use shell grit but I was wondering if gum tree litter would be more natural. Thanks in advance for responses.
