Hi KAZ , it's a small world we live in! A couple of the names you mentioned ring a bell, I have bought birds from Wilma before in the past, few years ago now.

Thanks Splat, looking forward to conversing with other budgie breeders and learning new things. With regards to my birds, my understanding is that my light green spangle cock would be the one masking the ino gene as it is sex linked and the hen cannot mask it. My hen is a yellow double factor spangle, not lutino as she has the dark eyes. If she carried the ino gene she would show it with red eyes?? In the nest we have 3 x lutino(red eyes), 1 x Yellow DF Spangle(dark eyes) and 1 x Grey green spangle.

Hi to all, my name is Richard. I've been breeding budgies on and off for around 10 years, have never been a member of a club or shown my birds but have always been interested in the genetics of the budgie. There are so many different colour combinations to experiment with when breeding these little birds and the enjoyment they bring to me and my children is endless. My 9 year old daughter is currently hand raising a lutino hen chick, one of five chicks from our light green spangle cock and double factor spangle hen. It was a surprise to end up with three lutino's in the nest as we were unaware the cock was split "ino". These surprises are what keep us intrigued and give us much enjoyment. I hope to contribute to this forum regularly and learn a lot more from others, so looking forward to it!
