  1. The main perch is 2m long, then we've got a short one the runs front to back that about 90cm long, plus two others down lower that are about 1.5m long.. we took the breeding boxed out, and on the weekend we're going to put another long fixed perch all the length.. since all the others are on chain and swing a little... so if its 150mm per bird there should be enough for 40ish... right?? We're thinking of 10-15 max though.
  2. This is the Avery we built .. its 2m long, 1.5m tall and 1m deep (the breeding boxes are out now). I'm still awaiting the trays for the bottom to collect the mess... the mesh in the bottom is small enough for the brids to stand on if they want to and not get caught in it. I was told I could fit upto 20 in there.. is that true, I've got 7 in there now... Thanks

I'd only want to do one pair at a time. I'm not even sure I want to breed at all, I'm quite happy just buying birds to add in as I find nice colours. I'll see if hubbie can get the boxes out this arvo when we get home from work.

Hi Kaz, Thanks for that link, I'll be getting the boxes out this weekend i think, I guess if I want to breed I've still got our old cage (1m high, 50cm wide and deep) that I can use to put pairs in to breed? Should i worry about the aggressive hen? Should she settle when the boxes are out? B

I’m 95% sure it is not the Wire, there was blood splatter around the opening on one of the boxes. Also all the ends of our mesh are outside the frame. I made sure before the birds went in. We're not fussed about breading, we've got 4 in there right now and we have two mature hens, and two young ones that we’re not sure about yet, if it’s safe I’d like to keep them in since they all roost on top of them, If need be I've got the space to put more in. We think our Blue Hen is the culprit, she had blood on her shoulder, and she's very aggressive, bites any others that go near her except for the Cock she likes. .

Hi All I'm just starting out in Budgies, we've owned two for a few years and just built our own Avery from scratch, Unfortunately one of our Girls passed away before we got it made, Now its done we're got 7 budgies in there, one is a bit of a trouble maker and today I got home from work to find blood on the avery floor, and my old girl Sunny with a bloody cere... not sure what I should do? I've been reading and I now know we need to take the breading boxed out of the avery, so hubbie will take those out for me tomorrow. Do i need to take our trouble maker out?? Thanks for any help Bel
