Female Not Staying In Nest
I only lock her in of a night time to keep the baby warm and remove the blockage at dawn so that she can come out of the nest box to feed, drink etc. Is it a good idea to do that or should I let her perch in the cage with the male of a night.

Female Not Staying In Nest
I have a pair of Lutino budgies breeding at the moment. They have one baby that was born on the 19/4/11 (24 days old). I removed 5 eggs from the nest box as they were infertile yesterday. Tonight she wouldn't go into the nest box and this morning (fri) i found the baby on the floor of the breeding cabinet. It is very cold here of a night at the moment. I have locked her in the nest box tonight to keep the baby warm but im worried whether that was the right course of action as she is quite a defensive and doesnt like being handled. She is a first time mum. Has anyone faced this situation before or is it normal?

New To Forum
thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Will post photos but i will have to find the software disc for the camera so that I can upload from the computer. May take a little while as have moved house 3 times since buying camera and still have boxes in shed from when we last moved . Had to buy new computer as hardware drive and monitor failed, modem went followed by the dishwasher all within 3 days. Don't you hate bad luck. Not sure on varieties yet but have pair of lutino, pair of light green, mixture of skyblue and cobalt blue and have two birds that have mixture of blue and green feathers with yellow faces. Also have a male budgie that is purple colour with white clear wings.

New To Forum
Hi everyone My name i Dianne and im new to the forum. Im getting back into the hobby of breeding budgies as my son who is 3 is mad keen on birds. I last bred budgies 15 odd years ago and have started it up again for myself and my son. He helps me look after the birds and loves to fill up their feed containers and wash their water containers. I currently have 2 pairs in breeding cabinets at the moment and 12 budgies in the outdoor aviary.
