I'm so sorry for your loss Buddy & Angel sound like special little birds. Spend some time with your new little one and give your daughter time to recover, I think you will find the new little bird will work his way into everyone's heart. I don't know that theres any hurry to get another one. Time will heal the sadness...but never the memory. Remember the happy times.
  2. Hi Just after some advice. I have a hexagonal aviary with 4 males and 4 females. Lately I have noticed single eggs dropped on the bottom of the aviary - cracked with a yolk. The birds have paired off with 3X pairs having lots of sex and exchanging 'saliva'. I thought of putting in nest boxes, but after researching the perils of colony breeding have decided not to. My other option from my understanding is to remove the pairs into separate cages with nest boxes. Problem is we are in the middle of renovations, I don't think I can devote enough time at this stage to monitoring breeding. Is it okay to just leave the birds do their own thing, will it affect any future breeding I may want to do? Hope someone can help, thanks.

My little budgie Pistachio died suddenly yesterday for no reason I can work out. He was so affectionate and loving I miss him so much. My friend who currently has some chicks in her aviary asked if I would like another one as a pet they should be ready in a few weeks. A part of me wants another little one to love, but another part of me doesn't want to go through this sadness again. What do you think?
