I think when RIPBudgies saw you were in Perth she assumed as she would that you were in the same Perth Western Australia we live in. Easy mistake to make if you dont check a persons actual profile info. There is also a Perth in Tasmania. just to let you know that my little hen died today-she deteriorated rapidly and in the space of a couple of hours she was gone.thanks for advice given, was very much appreciated.

Razor Sharp Breastbone Lump In Stomach
hi-i have been going to girling and fraser-breadalbane tc behind tesco edinburgh road.the avian/exotic vet only works wednesdays and weekends-hes head keeper at edinburgh zoo i believe.i am taking my hen in wed to see him,but so far its his wife ive seen, who isnt an avian vet but does know a little about birds.she said she had spoke to her husband about my hen and it was him who thought tumor, even though she is only a year old.when i go in on wed im going to ask for microbiology-been told she cant get xrayed as the anesthetic might kill her.picked up baytril and critical care powder from them today-the powder goes on her food (can go in water)and baytril in water.crop feeding hasnt been offered as of yet,but i will take you up on the offer if it comes to it,i really appreciate that-thank you

thanks kaz,had a look on youtube at crop feeding-im taking her in tomorrow morning to pick up meds and get her checked over-the vet had a few suggestions on what could be done, injections, keeping her in etc but she said her gut feeling was that it didnt look good-will keep you posted on how things go

Razor Sharp Breastbone Lump In Stomach
spoke to vet,and she thinks theres not alot of hope for my hen-the belief is she has a tumour and that an anesthetic for xray would kill her.going to pick up something called power pack that the vet uses for sick birds, and microbiology-even though the vet and i both know its pointless i dont want to rule anything out at this point.only time will tell, but im expecting to lose her.

hi-my white spangle hen has been having health problems-the vet gave her antibiotics in her water which she hasnt really taken-spoke to avian vet yesterday and only appt i could get is for next wed.had to clean off hard poo from her bum today and found she has a razor sharp breastbone and a lump in bottom of her stomach-the vet i saw touched on problems with her gizzard but no diagnosis was made at the time.was told to bring her back after a week to see vets partner who is an avian specialist,i dont feel this is looking good for my little hen,and would appreciate any advice you may have on what i can do for her while i wait.

Regurgitating Or Vomiting?help!
hi-can anyone give me some advice?had my new bird 2 weeks and she has been fine-today she started shaking her head and watery seeds were flying around-could see her bringing them out of her crop in a sort of "coughing up" manner.this happened for around 5 minutes then stopped.not long after she went and had a feed and a preen and seems okay-which i know doesnt mean she is.she wasnt doing it to another bird or object, and has been a bit more sleepy today but saying that she had fly time which she is still not as proficient at as my other birds-so she tires out quickly!the avian vet in our area isnt available until weekend-really dont know if she was vomiting or just regurgitating something that was stuck?any advice would be appreciated thanks

Planning For A New Pet
hi-sorry to take so long to reply!the answer you got from kaz is spot on-i got my 6 birds from a breeder-im sure kaz can give you some great recommendations, and i would be more than happy to put you in touch with the lovely man i got my birds from!you can get some great advice on this and many other forums,i would recommend after an initial settling in period, once the bird is calm and feeding-a least a day or two, letting your daughter slowly introduce her hand into the bottom of the cage holding a sprig of millet spray and talking softly without approaching the bird at first-just for ten minutes a couple times a day-over time she can raise her hand towards the bird, and hopefully it will start eating the millet and then go onto her finger to feed.also, get a boy as they are usually easier to tame!hope this helps!lorns

Adding Fourth Budgie
hi-i hadnt thought of quarantine as she was from the same breeder as the other three it didnt occur to me-the breeder has been keeping, breeding and showing his birds for decades-he has many rosettes, and his flock arent as big as they used to be with his advancing age etc-been in the aviary and his husbandry is excellent-all his birds are beautiful!!!do you think i should still quarantine?the breeder didnt mention it,but i suppose its better safe than sorry!the girl i got today is a spangle, shes blue with a white head-not sure of the correct terminology!the other female is a recessive pied-yellow and green-cant remember what the right names are for the two males, think new boy is a spangle too-green and yellow but cant remember what other male is-hes blue with a white face!met my new boys father today-he is a show bird-but the birds i have arent show birds, not quite sure how it all works-going to start reading up on budgie types and breeding, and maybe one day,way way down the line, try it for myself!!!sorry to ramble on so much,im just so happy with my little flock!!!
