I have been breeding and handraising parrots for quite a few years. However Budgies are new to me. The few I have handraised have turned out to be beautiful, friendly little birds. I have one pair of violet budgies who are now raising their third clutch of babies. The first two clutches were all violet with the exception of one baby who is a more dilute shade with no black. The present clutch has five babies. Three are violet like the parents and two are electric blue. I have a blue male budgie exactly the same colour as the blue chicks and he appears to be feeding them as well as the parents. Does this mean that she mated with two males when laying eggs or do they just carry the blue colour. I notice that the blue budgie's green mate sits in the box with the chicks at night. I would love someone to shed light on this for me. Thanks.
