  1. okay. How do I go about checking for mites? Is there any articles I can read? Complete novice
  2. Come to think of it we have noticed rubbing the head / beak area on her Canary swing.... Jessie has molted a few times before, but never looked this scruffy and the behavior change occured at the same time?
  3. Hi kaz, You are correct. when we got Jessie we where unsure as to boy or girl, thus jessie worked for a boy or girl as a name. We got into the habbit of refering to him as a boy in the early days... I forgot that pictures needed to be hosted. Appetite is fine. pope is pretty normal as well...?
  4. Hi all. Have some concerns about the health of my budgie. Jessie is normally a very friendly bird and loves to follow you around the house. About a week ago Jessie started acting strangely: - Became easily spoked and hid in his cage - Has started losing feathers. Dont believe he is molting as a relatively has a budgie and they usually molt at similar times. in some places on his head if you look hard enough you can see his skin- refer image - The cere has darkened from a beige colour to a red / burgandy shade. A week later he is losing alot less feathers (approx 4 a day) He is not so easily spoked and is more open to attention. Jessie is still acting a little different. Not sure what else i can tell you, Thought i better post up in case there is some thing I need to worry about? I have attached an image from 2 weeks ago and also an image of today for comparisons sake Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Oops, how do I attach images from my hard drive?
  5. Thankyou for all your replys, I took the pictures on my phone. unfortunatly I wont be home for another 3 weeks to get some better images. Jessie started out really shy and would hide under neath the food and water containers in the cage. I was off work for a week and kept getting Jessie out of the cage. Jessy would get on and of my finger and when I held my hand flat and my arm straight, jessy would run up my armand sit on my shoulder. jessy also started to fly from where he was and land on my shoulderwhen he wanted some attention.
  6. Thanks ratzy, Is the colouration / pattern on the wings with the outer cirle shapes being a grey an unusuall trait?
