  1. i might do that kaz,i was just wondering if prehaps they may have been prescription only
  2. i saw in other posts people saying they treat their birds yearly with ronivet and coccivet,i was wondering do you have to go to the vet or can you obtain these products elsewhere? I would like to treat my birds especially the 3 i have in quarantine but the avian vet i go to is an hr away and as i dont drive i only go there when needed
  3. yeah it was the hunched look that got me worried in the first place, have noticed that the head bobbing is mainly after she has drank. Dont have much choice when it comes to avian vets unfortunately as i am in Busselton( 3hrs south from perth)
  4. i will do thanks kaz, was also wondering if she may just be stressed or if its some behavioural thing she just likes doing as everything else is normal, she is eating, drinking, chatty and poo is normal,i have moved her to the hospital cage inside just incase
  5. one of my hens has started to worry me,i have made an appointment with the avian vet tomorrow but thought i would ask here also. She appears healthy and is eating fine but has started sitting on the perch like the hunch back of nortradame she also constantly bobs her head up and down but not violently and no liquid gets flung everywhere so i dont think its vomiting ,she seems prehaps a little fluffed up but not overly so. Any ideas?
  6. i put a pair down to breed a couple of days ago as they were bonding in the aviary and are of breeding condition,he is a normal grey but fairly large and she is a olive green spangle who i had planned to pair up with a different cock. They preen each other and he feeds her but he seems more interested in the perch, she gets angry at this and then starts attacking the perch.I know its normal for a cock to masterbate but is it normal for the hen to get jealous and start attacking the perch like she wants to kill it? oh and forgot to mention she is 2yrs old and he is 18 months
  7. Yeah, but Elly a pet shop bird is very different from one from a breeder. A pet shop cant tell you much of the history of the bird. Also pet shops get their birds from all sorts of places and just throw them together, in the same display cage. Getting a bird from a breeder and then a week later getting another one from the same breeder, the birds have lived in the same aviary. All your doing is putting them back together, in much the same way as when you take a breeding pair out into breeding boxes. Then reintroduce them back to the flock when the babies have fledged.
  8. yeah thats what i was worried about kaz so i might quarantine them for a couple of weeks just to avoid problems
  9. i agree with kaz,i can see white on there cere of the yellow one so its a female
  10. just a quick question regarding quarantine i got a pair of budgies from john payne a few weeks ago and next week will be getting another pair from him,as both pairs come from the same place do i need to quarantine the new pair when i get them or can they go straight in the aviary with the first pair i got? other than the first pair there are no other budgies in the aviary as yet but i do have 3 others from another breeder in quarantine but they will be there for another 19 days as i like to quarantine for at least 30 days

i am new to this forum but not new to budgies, some of you might know or heard of John Payne well he is a relative of mine. I only have 4 birds at the moment 2 of which i got from John but slowly working on increasing that number
